Pennyfeather advances the digital revolution within wealth management through a multi-faceted experience. This project was a crash course in the experience economy, banking, and the future of wealth management (I love this intersection).

Through an iterative process, I designed a visionary wealth management experience that married a community of peers, trusted resources, and relevant financial advice through an elegant physical experience with a delightful digital experience.

For the real life side, we curated a world-wide roster of unique locations—drawing inspiration from Boodle’s, Soho House, and Gringott’s Wizard Bank. These are spaces to connect, to discuss finances, or to simply relax. On the digital side, we designed a mobile-first experience that offers a pared down list of features (checking balances, light trading, transferring funds) that is designed to harness the web of a user’s financial and banking apps in a centralized experience.

Pennyfeather

I designed a recipe experience that’s a little-bit [Yummly](https://www.yummly.com/), a little-bit [Reddit](https://www.reddit.com), and a little-bit [Genius](https://genius.com/). I applied a human-centered lens to the recipe landscape to boost an iterative approach towards the perfect recipes and the future of cooking and baking.

The site aspires to be the central aggregation of recipes, with commerce connections, a universal recipe entry form, and an API for recipes to live anywhere on the web. Through an inviting and interactive experience, users can search by recipe and quickly see which one is rated the best. Users can suggest substitutes and others can vote these up or down.

Search functionality is deep and robust (I love designing search interfaces). In addition, users can search by recipe or ingredients—making use of what’s on hand in the best possible way. Connections to browsing and purchase history will yield additional suggestions.

The Fork Off

I led design on a platform to empower banking clients, such as large investment firms and pension funds, with actionable insights and thoughtful views into their data through a delightful experience that accommodates the full range of infrequent and advanced users.

The experience prioritized the customization of data inquiries and reports, automatic scheduling, and searching across multiple databases and massive troves of data.

The final product featured elegant tables, seamless filtering, and intuitive data visualization. The ability to create custom queries, schedule data downloads, and seamlessly share their findings allowed users to significantly reduce the time they spent searching for and gathering data and more time analyzing it.

I art directed and designed an admissions catalog for DePaul University. DePaul is a small university located in the center of Chicago. I wanted the design to highlight the eclectic and electric energy that surrounds the university and the daily life of its students.

Begin at the Center of It All

I led ideation, research, and design on the creation of Sesame, a mobile application that connects clubs and members around the world with a simple and elegant design. With Sesame, club members are able to access club services and benefits with near-zero friction. The challenge was to bring this obscured realm into the digital landscape without removing any of the charm of an industry that values tradition and person-to-person connections over convenience. 

Sesame allows members to quickly and easily confirm access to reciprocal clubs. Sesame simplifies and streamlines all aspects of club communications and member transactions. Sesame provides members with the ability to easily make reservations or request services from their home club and a way for clubs to offer different tiers of access to reciprocal members and potential new members in order to maximize revenue. It also facilitates synchronous communications by offering in-app texting and call routing, ensuring that members can still access the same personalized service that clubs traditionally offer.

Sesame

I was thrilled to work with one of my favorite brands to create a printed version of their *The Cleanest Line* blog. I wanted to emphasize the brand’s “Live Simply” philosophy with understated typography and bold images. In keeping with Patagonia’s environmental ethos, we printed the journal using recycled paper and inks made from algae and soy.

The Cleanest Line

I had the opportunity to support McDonald’s to design a conference communications platform to build connectivity within the iconic restaurant chain’s network of employees, franchisees, and partners. As an extension of this work, I refined the platform’s design, leveraging its potential to build and sustain community beyond the convention itself.

We created a product that enriched the convention experience, allow for conversations to continue, and infuse the day-to-day work life with interactions that harken back to the creative energy of the face-to-face meeting.

By investing in and elevating an in-house digital communications platform, I realized McDonald’s could support dynamic teaming as well as create space for new voices and ideas to foster the productive evolution of the organization’s culture and strategies. In addition, improving their digital product suite will increase team cohesion and serve as a touchpoint for attracting the next generation of leaders.

I also made the hamburger menu a little more literal—and added some cheese. :P

mChat

I designed an app that measures the occupancy of restaurants, supermarkets, offices, buses and all the points-of-interest in between.

The coronavirus quarantine inspired me to revisit one of my first app projects from a decade ago. That app, Pourcast, was designed to alleviate the problem of showing up to your favorite coffee shop with no place to sit. It showed all the coffee shops in your vicinity and indicated their business. (Kinda, there were problems accessing appropriate data at the time.)

Like Pourcast, Crowd Control indicates the density of your favorite haunts so that you knew if it was safe to go. The Pourcast range was expanded to almost everywhere: offices, parks, supermarkets (why is that line at Trader Joe’s always soooo long?!), buses, restaurants, airports, and more. Through many rounds of research and iteration, we arrived with a result that is simple, gorgeous, app that surfaces up current and historical location density.

Crowd Control

Mxltiply is a design platform. We collaborate with designers around the world to create iconic editions—from reinventing design gems to elevating emerging designers. I launched this project as an excuse to work with my favorite designers around the world. A years-long admiration of [Droog](https://www.droog.com/) served as my primary inspiration.

I designed this site to be an ever-evolving experience that would celebrate design. New graphic designers, type designers, and creative technologists would shape it over time. This first iteration paired simple, stunning typography and subtle interactions to boost and highlight the product offerings.

As a consultant for GoodRx, I focused on enhancing their brand and product through design and strategy. My work included developing a design system, leading design projects for checkout and account interfaces, and coaching teams towards a cohesive, delightful experience. This journey mixed exciting challenges with complex conversations, aiming to simplify and improve the GoodRx user experience.

GoodRx

The first things I ever designed were zines. I would camp out at the local copy shop, cut and paste images and text; and then get to printing, collating, and binding. *Negotiations and Love Songs*, is one of my latest, lo-fi creations (complete with a riso-printed marbled paper cover) that attempts push rap love songs into the realm of traditional poetry books with a little bit of zine mixed in along the way.
