We are looking for a skilled designer with an entrepreneurial drive to become a partner in Obra Studio. As a partner you will help grow the company and lead design projects. You will lead operations in Belgium.

Responsibilities

• Contact with customers; create quotes and communicate with customers about their projects

• Marketing: promote the company and implement strategies to promote our services, from content marketing to events

• Sales: work on lead generation, expand our network, visit meetups and conferences to meet the right customers

• Design leadership: within the projects themselves, carry out design lead tasks such as (physical) workshops with clients, high-level design thinking and strategy, handle design crits, and drive the project work forward

• Hiring: scout for emerging talent. Maintain freelancer relations. Maintain a hiring strategy to grow.

• HR: Help designers grow their skillset via mentoring and evaluation of their work. Grow as a team.

Qualifications

• Knows how to design: you are a design leader with many years of experience in a design function. You have the ability to dive into the pixels: we expect an Obra business partner to have the deep skills themselves to dive into the deep, detailed design work themselves, exhibiting excellent taste and skill.

• Ability to learn: You are naturally curious and you constantly teach yourself new skills as the world around us changes.

• Excellent communicator, both orally and written, in English and Dutch

• Entrepreneurial mindset

Extra

• Specific design management experience is a plus; you managed a team of designers or grew a design function in a product company

• You know how to read a balance sheet, have proven methods to handle administrative tasks, know how to speak legal when needed

• Spanish language skills

• French language skills

About Obra Studio

We’re a new design studio, aiming to become a reference in UI and digital product design. Currently led by Johan in Mexico, we are actively looking to grow quickly in 2025.

To achieve this, we need you: the right business partner to lead operations in Belgium.

Location

This is a remote position for 60-80% of the time, but requires travel within Europe and setting up a homebase city for employees in Belgium (for example Ghent, Antwerp).
