Sexuality has long been a tenet of the Calvin Klein image. In an effort to channel that energy towards the next generation we’d recruit a new class of icons, depicting them at their most vulnerable to create a more intimate bond and introduce a campaign device that would carry the brand for years to come.
For decades the cosmetics industry has embraced a conventional standard, defining beauty through a faultless filter. To introduce their makeup line, Byredo would subvert that definition, launching a campaign that builds upon the cult brand’s reputation for fragrance and sets a new standard for adornment.
Uniqlo was long on style but craved more substance – a connection transcending the brand’s reputation for functional fashion. This timely social campaign embraced the culture to create a movement refusing a divisive world, recognizing we share a fundamental desire to unfit in.
KitchenAid wanted to attract Millennials to the brand by reinterpreting their flagship product – the mixer. To do it we’d launch the first ever global campaign rooted in genuine influencer content. Six countries and countless impressions later stretch sales goals were surpassed by more than 30%.
How do you shepherd one of the world’s most beloved brands into the future? By honoring the past. Avoiding the temptation to remake a classic we’d resurrect a campaign with generational roots, celebrate a global community and recapture the spirit of a true beverage icon.
Beats wasn’t short on cultural cache, but the product was tethered to the past. Through an unmatched network of celebrity partners we’d introduce a cord-free future, making the the benefits of the brand’s debut collection of wireless headphones abundantly clear to anyone listening.
Work Experience
Positioned at the intersection of strategy and culture, Arcana develops original content marrying creative substance with commercial appeal. In partnership with the world’s most beloved lifestyle brands, we conceive modern campaigns for ambitious business goals, inciting a new generation of audience. As Founder and Managing Partner I’m responsible for cultivating relationships, maintaining the calibre of work and securing all new business.
Stadium is a multi-faceted production company and creative studio living at the bleeding edge of popular culture. With a focus on developing world-class content, this progressive group of directors, producers and creatives didn’t just capture the tastes of a new generation, it shaped them. As Managing Director I was tasked with restructuring the organization, introducing the creative services offering and growing the business at large. During my time in the role the company would double its topline revenue year over-year, develop some of its most celebrated projects, expand its Los Angeles footprint and open a London satellite office.
A next generation media and entertainment company, Zealot Networks delivers multi-platform revenue, distribution and engagement opportunities to relevant audiences. Led by Maker Studios founder, Danny Zappin, Zealot coalesced best-in-class companies from the worlds of creativity, media and tech to realize a business model that transcends the norm. As Senior Vice President of the creative group I was pivotal in securing over $100MM in venture financing, tasked with integrating four portfolio agencies, restructuring our internal resources, managing a team of more than sixty, bringing our offering to market and developing first-rate branded content. Work that would lead the company to a $350MM valuation in only two years time.
Acquired by new media company, Zealot Networks, BTTR is a creative consultancy and production studio offering project-based solutions for agencies and brands. As Founder and Managing Director I was responsible for building the company from the ground up, securing new business, shaping the work and maintaining all client relationships. Acknowledging that culture is currency, we developed premium content informed by meaningful strategies that embraced a new generation of consumer, leading to a quality of work that was both creatively substantive and outperformed benchmarks.
A full-service creative agency co-founded by Kobe Bryant, Zambezi caters to sports and entertainment brands, fostering passionate relationships between product and consumer. As a pioneering employee I was key to the agency’s formation, positioning our offering, cultivating new business and building out company infrastructure. As the agency grew I’d come to manage a diverse array of relationships, from Beats By Dre and Coca-Cola to Caesars Palace and The Los Angeles Lakers, shepherding multi-million dollar campaigns towards success and managing the health of our partners’ brands. Over the course of five years I’d play an integral role in growing the agency to a staff of more than eighty with three global offices and countless industry accolades.
eSam acts as the elite creative team within Sam Zell’s Equity Group Investments, one the world’s largest real estate investment companies. Working closely with Sam himself, I was responsible for developing groundswell campaigns in support of the firm’s many new business initiatives. From merchandising public offerings to orchestrating sensational events for some of the business community’s most influential personalities, eSam was the engine charged with driving culture and curating the company’s image.
