What we're looking for

Product designers at Recidiviz dive into systemic problems and distill complex workflows into intuitive interfaces. The ideal candidate will imagine, prototype, craft, and ship products that explore how seemingly simple interactions can impact criminal justice outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Explore, imagine, and test experiences that lead to better outcomes for justice-impacted individuals

• Work with product managers to define design deliverables and set expectations

• Collaborate with engineers to launch scalable, inventive, and high-quality solutions

• Present work, review prototypes, and share learnings with fellow designers

Qualifications

As a small non-profit, it is important for us to measure twice and cut once. The essential qualifications below are very specific to our current need: a product designer with a strong sense for visual and interaction design.

• Experience developing, prototyping, and shipping products

• Experience designing effective user experiences and interactions

• Experience working and collaborating closely with software engineers

• A strong foundation and understanding of classical design principles

• A keen eye for typography, form and color

• A self-driven maker who sweats the details

Preferred Skills

• Proven talent for pushing ideas and design conventions

• Comfortable breaking down ambiguous problems

• Eager about creating scalable design systems

• Strong graphic design skills

• Multidisciplinary
