Position Overview:

Pixel-1 is seeking a skilled Senior Product Designer or Product Designer to lead design for our clients, primarily startups and scale-ups in the B2B SaaS space. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on varied projects in a sector that is pioneering some of the tech world's design language.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

Strategic (only applicable for senior/lead roles):

  • Design Strategy: Develop and implement design strategies for clients.

  • Design Roadmapping: Collaborate with other product functions to create design roadmaps.

  • Company-Wide Design Guidelines: Create and establish design guidelines and a cohesive design vision.

  • User Advocacy: Advocate for user-centered design to executive teams, clients, and other stakeholders.

  • Team Development: Help develop a world-class design team.

Tactical:

  • UX Research: Conduct UX research, including quantitative and qualitative research, research planning, recruitment, usability audits, and recommendations.

  • Wireframing and Prototyping: Create wireframes, interactive prototypes, user flows, maps, and other experience design methods.

  • Accessibility: Conduct accessibility audits and provide recommendations (minimum AA score on all usability elements, AAA+ for government-related initiatives).

  • User Interface (UI) Design: Produce high-fidelity UI mockups and create design systems and product style guides.

  • Interaction Design: Develop interaction designs patterns and contribute to an overarching system of animations, iconography, and illustrations.

  • Development Specifications: Provide detailed development specs and user flows.

  • Quality Control: Ensure quality control and assurance of the final implemented design.

  • Communication: Great communicator and demonstrates pro active ownership

Requirements:

  • Experience: For Senior Product Designers, 5+ years of experience; for Product Designers, 2+ years of experience.

  • Technical Skills: Mastery of Figma is essential. Experience with tools like Dovetail and Rive is a plus.

  • User Research: Experience conducting user research (both quantitative and qualitative).

  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Work Environment: 100% remote position with twice-yearly offsites (previous locations include Greece, Barcelona, and Miami).

  • Location: Must be based in Canada and hold a Canadian passport and able to travel for on site user interviews.
