What are your team rituals?

👩🏼‍🎨 Design Team Rituals

Weekly Design Crits: we have pillar team crits once a week where we focus on sharing early and often to get feedback at all altitudes. They can be scrappy like walking through early sketches in Figma file or a PRD, or super deep like a high-fidelity prototype or polished presentation. The vibe is thoughtful and supportive—it’s where we learn and stretch our skills.

Monthly AMA’s in Slack: we dedicate an hour on a Friday to do a rapid-fire AMA of a designer in our #design-team. Sometimes, we pull in cross-functional guest stars to be put in the hot seat.

Quarterly All-Hands: Jaime shares her top-of-mind on design and the business. Team members have a chance to do deep dive presentations and designers kick off every quarter with a full team lightning-round shareout of their top priority projects.

Yearly Offsite: the design team gets together IRL to spend a few days focused on conversations, jam sessions, peer learning, and offsite adventures.  During our most recent offsite, a few designers led some 10-minute skill talks that covered topics such as:

  • Prototyping with Protopie by Erin

  • How design can support the sales team by Tareq

  • Why projects get canceled by Allan

  • Tactics for getting good UX into built product by Jocelyn

🏟️ Company Rituals

Monthly Show-and-Tell: hosted by Stephen, one of our most tenured Airtable product designers. Despite being a 700-person company, we still care about making time and space for everyone to share their work and geek out together. Anyone across product, engineering, sales, and marketing can sign up and showcase in-progress or exciting updates on their work. The #show-and-tell-banter channel pops off every time.
