## Overview

As a leading open SaaS platform with professional services, Olo enables over 700 brands to jointly reach 85 million connected guests across approximately 80,000 locations.

## Getting started

As lead product designer, I was tasked with spinning up prototypes and validating our new brand and design language with our customers.

**Team goals** were as follows:

* **Discover** - Perform 20+ customer discovery interviews

* **Build** - Rapidly design prototype and marketing site

* **Launch** - Launch and promote via organic/inorganic channels

* **Test** - Test iterative improvements/ideas to see what increases conversion

* Extensive user testing using Maze as our go to research tool for gathering insights and validating designs. Including visiting local customers to discuss pains and review prototypes.

* Pushed the boundaries on what we delivered from a quality perspective. We moved fast, but we also shipped quality features and assets.

## My Learnings

### Speed matters

* Creating a scalable process for design to get from discovery -> iteration -> handoff needed to be a well oiled machine. Each day mattered.

* Speed forces humility. I grew to enjoy killing ideas fast.

* Scaling a design system to meet these demands were paramount.

### Navigate ambiguity

* When designing a new product, nothing is set in stone.

* Push forward on decisions. Note assumptions and revisit later.

## My Learnings

### Speed matters

* Creating a scalable process for design to get from discovery -> iteration -> handoff needed to be a well oiled machine. Every step matters.

* Speed forces humility. I grew to enjoy killing ideas fast.

* Scaling a design system to meet these demands were paramount. Without patterns and base components in place, we could not iterate quickly.

### Navigate ambiguity

* When designing a new product, nothing is set in stone.

* Push forward on decisions. Note assumptions and revisit later.

### Collaboration

* As a remote first company it was paramount we set a cadence and build culture around speaking up and communicating updates or blockers often.

* What helped us do this was accountability, and tools like Slack huddles, Gather town (virtual office space) and Figma comments.

## **I’m a multi-disciplinary designer and craftsman. Stay curious.**

In central Oklahoma, “Home of the Sooners”. The open plains, majestic beasts roaming (wild bison), the unforgetable sunsets, this place has shaped me more than I ever realized.\
\
As much as I feel like I picked being a “Craftsman” by trade, It surely picked me. Since I was 11, I’ve been drawn to the details and quality that is found only by doing, collecting, shaping, breaking, fixing, and of course melting crayons.\
\
Be it working with wood, leather, paper, pen, pencil, trackpad, whatever, I’ve done it. Over the last 8 years I have honed my digital design passion, helping elevate startups by building human-centered products that are a delight to use.\
