As a Technical Curriculum Developer, I developed a course on utilizing our AWS IoT Core fleet indexing tool. To showcase its application, I crafted a narrative focused on "smart" refrigerators as an example of scalable IoT devices. I authored the content and built the course using Articulate Rise.
To enhance the story, I reached out to our animation team and collaborated to create videos explaining the scenario and concepts.
Throughout the course I included various interactions to help the students practice their new knowledge.
The same scenario is continued throughout the course for consistency and to help the learner gain a familiarity and understanding for how to use the tool in various ways.
After all the concepts were introduced, I provided the students with a hands-on demo and narrative involving water sensors so they could practice using the Fleet Indexing tool with a new scenario. This was recorded and edited myself using Camtasia. This enabled students to actively participate, follow along, and independently tackle various challenges.
The course concluded with a knowledge check of multiple choice questions. Each question was based on real life tasks a customer might need to take while using the Fleet Indexing tool in production. All the answers included full explanations of the result.
In addition, I created a one-page PDF job aid for the course, which students could download and use as a review resource to support their learning. This way if students forgot any of their learning they did not need to reopen the full course for a quick review.
