Ella Thames
UX Design in Santa Barbara CA, She/Her
Hi! I am looking for UX full-time or freelancing work. I am interested in music and accessible design.
About
I am a UX designer with a passion for making accessible and enjoyable experiences.
I am a graduate of UC Berkeley with a BA in Cognitive Science with a focus in computer science.
When I'm not designing I am fiddling Irish and Swedish tunes or trying new recipes!
Side Projects
After scanning a QR code in the Santa Barbara Art Museum, users can create their own audio tour by listening to guides of works they are interested in.
Tinny is a travel itinerary planning app, which eases collaboration and sharing of recommendations between fellow travelers.
Education
Cognitive science major with a focus in computer science
Work Experience
I prevented the release of bugs through exploratory and regression software testing. I coordinated across teams to ensure preparedness for releases. I worked on the UX consistency team, the product security team, and a feature team.
I read the latest academic literature to learn about new natural language processing techniques being used to categorize text to identify strategies for detecting action items in meeting transcripts.
Volunteering
I created member recruitment through a marketing campaign that included posters, logos, and social media banners. The club saw a 25% increase in recruitment interest.
I led a project to write an original curriculum for the club’s intro computer science tutoring sections, this saved tutor’s time and provided students with a consistent quality of instruction. I tutored for a python course for 5 semesters.
