## Discover the Georgian alphabet, one of 14 globally. Learning it in Georgia, I created a phone wallpaper cheat sheet. Now it helps my expat friends.

In November 2022, I found myself in Georgia. At that time, I had no idea that I would soon be in Germany, so I decided to start learning Georgian.

As I began learning the Georgian alphabet, which is one of the 14 alphabets in the world, I had the idea to create a cheat sheet on my phone. This cheat sheet would allow me to quickly look up unfamiliar letters on street signs. And so, my passion project, the [Georgian alphabet phone wallpaper](https://dariikhitrin.gumroad.com/l/kartuli-wallpaper?_gl=1*4e95gh*_ga*MTAyNjkzNTUxNi4xNjY5MDM0NTgy*_ga_6LJN6D94N6*MTY5MTUyOTI5My4yNy4wLjE2OTE1MjkyOTMuMC4wLjA.)↗, was born. I was completely consumed by it and couldn't focus on anything else until it was finished.

I shared the product with many of my immigrant friends, and they were thrilled to have it. It turned out to be exactly what they needed. Even now I occasionally come across my wallpaper on the phones of [random people on Twitter](https://twitter.com/_tengelin/status/1707798122083078517?t=Rx0wP9R0XDBqaAtZUVND2A&s=19)↗, and it's incredibly gratifying.

## Audience

Sellers on the Megamarket marketplace.

## Context

The feature of Megamarket is the common product card. This means that a product listed on the card is sold by multiple sellers at the same time. However, only the seller with the best conditions, including the most favorable price, appears on the main "Buy" button.

To compete on price at Megamarket, you can use a tool called **"Dynamic Price"** which automatically reduces the price of a product to match that of competitors within a set threshold.

## Business Problem

Based on the research findings, the interface was deemed difficult to set up and failed to meet all user requirements. Consequently, new sellers made limited use of dynamic pricing, despite it being one of the most critical tools for promoting products within the product card.

## Research

The UX researcher conducted a series of in-depth interviews with Dynamic Pricing users, which served as the foundation for future interface changes.

The study revealed that users have varying patterns of interaction with the interface. Large sellers with thousands of products prefer to set up Dynamic Pricing through Excel, while sellers with only a few dozen products prefer to use the interface. Additionally, some users require the ability to enable Dynamic Pricing for all products at once.

## Research Analysis

Based on the study, I analyzed the pain points of salespeople and categorized their issues.

### Current issues:

1. New sellers are having trouble understanding how to turn on the setting, and the interface is overloaded.

2. Users are not noticing the training landing page.

### New functionality:

1. Automatic price increase, not just decrease.

2. Ability to restrict the action of the Dynamic Pricing feature by regions, warehouses, and work schemes.

3. Budget feature — so that users can try Dynamic pricing without spending a lot of money on it.

## Task flow

Before starting to work on the layouts, I created a Task Flow. At this stage, we work closely with the Product Manager to align our expectations and work through all possible scenarios and edge cases.

## Design Process

Once the Task flow is agreed upon, I break it down into individual scenarios and proceed to work on each one. This visual separation enables me to concentrate on one aspect of the flow at a time and ensure that no corner cases are overlooked.

## Result

Let's review the main problems and adjustments and take a look at what has been updated.

### Fixed overloaded interface

The initial screen of the interface has been revamped. Users will now be able to easily identify where to click to add a product to the Dynamic Price

We have streamlined the product table by hiding some of the detailed Dynamic Pricing settings in a drop-down menu. Furthermore, we have also removed most of the text to make the interface more concise.

I have updated the analysis of competitors' prices to make it more visually appealing and easier to understand.

### Made educational landing page more prominent

Previously, users were unable to access the educational landing page as it was located within a banner that was perceived as unclickable. In order to address this issue, I have redesigned the interface and added a separate button to access the landing page.

### New Advanced Setting

**Segmentation by regions, warehouses, and work schemes.** You can now segment the action of Dynamic Pricing. For example, include promotions only for a specific region or for a warehouse where you need to quickly sell off inventory.

**Automatic Price Increase.** Sellers who offer prices lower than their competitors can now automatically increase their prices to match the nearest competitor. This way, they can still offer competitive prices while increasing their revenue.

### Budget feature

One of the barriers to using Dynamic Pricing is that it's unclear how much money you'll ultimately spend on this type of promotion. To remove this barrier, I created an interface with a simple budget setting. Now, Dynamic Pricing will automatically turn off once the set amount for promotion is spent.

## Audience

Marketers, responsible for initiating marketplace campaigns.

## Context

One of the key needs for sellers on the marketplace is to promote their products. A primary promotional mechanism involves participating in marketplace campaigns. The process works as follows: the marketplace sets a minimum discount that sellers must offer, and sellers choose products on which they can apply this discount.

## Business Problem

The marketplace was requesting discounts so big, that many sellers couldn’t participate in the campaigns.

This is a problem because the marketplace is interested in sellers offering discounts on their products during promotions. This is because it increases sales on the platform and, as a result, the company's profits.

> Recent campaigns had significantly lowered the thresholds for participation, making it nearly impossible to engage. Even *competitor's name* did not demand such high discounts, despite historically leading in this aspect.

## Business Solution

Business proposed implementing a parametric algorithm for calculating discounts. The algorithm empowers marketers to choose specific parameters that influence the discount calculation, providing transparency on the resulting discount magnitude. This approach allows for a diversified range of campaign discounts: substantial discounts for major events *(Black Friday, New Year)* and smaller discounts for weekly campaigns.

## Insights

CRM users, including marketers, were accustomed to unfriendly interfaces, often requiring assistance from colleagues to navigate settings. Several sections lacked design input and UX consideration, with developers often adding new features by themselves. As an example, here's a snapshot of an existing CRM section's structure:

## Process

My aim was to articulate the campaign parameters and their impact on discount calculation using simple language. Ideally, a new team member should grasp the process without seeking guidance from colleagues.

## UX research

Quick hallway usability testing showed, that the majority of surveyed colleagues understood the interface's functioning.

## Result

In the first month post-launch, the new interface facilitated the creation of **43** campaigns using the new algorithm. Over **2,000 sellers and 500,000 unique products** participated in these campaigns, showcasing a significant engagement increase.

By implementing the parametric discount algorithm and enhancing the user interface, we successfully addressed the marketplace's discounting challenge, boosting seller participation and campaign effectiveness.

Megamarket by Samokat is one of the largest e-commerce marketplaces in Russia with 20 million unique visitors, 10,000 sellers, and 10 million products.\

Accomplishments:\
✦ Designed new B2B Promotion features and tools to increase merchant engagement rate and share of promotion in GMV.\
✦ Improved the merchant registration flow on the marketplace to increase registration to activation conversion by 15% and reduce merchant time to market by 2.5 days.\
✦ Designed features for the product management system that reduced TTM for new product cards.\
✦ In collaboration with marketing and product, redesigned landing page to attract more merchants, which increased registration conversion.\

My role:\
✦ Collaborated with Product Managers and business analysts of departments to identify crucial functional requirements. Presented and defended my solutions to them.\
✦ Interacted with front-end and back-end developers. Conducted design reviews on test environments from the frontend stages to release, following the handoff of layouts and their implementation.\
✦ Conducted brief UX-research sessions with B2B users. For more in-depth research, I collaborated with UX researchers: developed prototypes, proposed hypotheses, and participated in interviews as an observer.\
✦ Facilitated new designer onboarding, explained the interactions among various B2B products. It resulted in rapid understanding of the product's high-level structure, enabling quick orientation and knowledge of colleagues' design focus.
