Client has a robust service that empowers restaurants to create personalized delivery websites. They want us to enhance it with QR Payment functionality, allowing for seamless offline payment experiences at restaurants. In this collaboration, our primary focus was on the payment process, particularly the splitting of bills, while ignoring the ordering flow.
Discovery. So we started from food-tech market and competitors research. Also we sought out the best interface practices and insights from other domains such as banking and finance management to create universal but convenient bill splitting.

User flow. Through extensive research and collaborative workshops with client team, we gained insights to define key scenarios, features, and restrictions. Utilizing this knowledge, we crafted user flows and developed prototypes tailored to three distinct roles for each type of bill split.

Order and pay. Device identification simplifies the process β guests select and pay for their individual bill from a shared table.

Under the hood. But what when guests need to share the bill? Or pay for someone else? Did someone order for someone who didnβt scan the QR? Considering it we used gamification mechanics that create collaborative space.

Select items. First sharing option that allow select specific items rom full list. After one initiate this split other guests should just select their items. It suit for cases where one guest ordered for all, but everyone want to pay for themselves.

Free amount. We offer freedom to contribute any desired amount towards the bill. Our system dynamically tracks and displays the remaining balance to complete the total bill.

Details. Our approach to feedback prioritizes not only addressing common issues, but also addressing rare cases, errors, and empty states, ensuring a comprehensive experience. Attention to small details is key to creating a cohesive and seamless experience for the user.
