The Challenge
We were all trapped inside for like a year and a half trying to survive a global pandemic.
The Solution
Technically vaccines were the solution. But to solve the shorter term problem of absolute boredom while being stuck inside, I launched a small business venture called Phantom Letter.
Phantom Letter was a SaaS (spooking as a service) product that let you send a one-of-a-kind, handwritten letter to a friend or loved one...from the ghost who claimed to be living in their house.
Basically, if going to grab the mail was one of the few exciting things we got to do each day, maybe I could make the mail an adventure in and of itself.
I let the domain lapse, but this was the landing page I spun up quickly to explain this doofy idea (prayer hands to Bootstrap for the assist).
The Result
- Over the course of two months, I sent about 100 unique letters to 38 unique states.
- I was featured in Product Hunt's weekly newsletter, which caused a surge in traffic that left me with a particularly sore hand one week.
- I wasn't sued by anyone. 👻
