I created the *Homies* app as a concept for my final project at General Assembly. Research, design and testing were done by myself over the course of 7 weeks.

Moving into a new place can be exciting—but in reality, the logistics of the hunt makes the experience draining. I set out to explore how an apartment-hunting app in Singapore could smoothen the process.

Finding a new place is often a collective effort between friends, partners, or a property agent. It’s a time-sensitive process, and you're constantly juggling information between different people and platforms.

*Homies* is a collaborative, mobile-first app. It’s designed to let you search on the go, alongside your “homies.” The app is organized by different phases in the apartment-hunting journey, with time-sensitive information on top, so users can focus on making quick decisions.

The home screen is your hub for the latest updates—new viewings, messages, and listings.

Everything is organized around different phases of the apartment-hunting journey, with the most time-sensitive information on top.

Listings are displayed as a stack of cards. A conversational heading indicates search parameters and the order cards are sorted in.

To view more details, users can tap into a card to open a drawer with information they can scroll through.

To make sifting through listings mobile-friendly, the cards use a swiping interaction to indicate “liked” and “disliked” properties.

Users also have the option to discard a listing completely.

### Notes

This project was my first foray into UX design and learning Figma. The idea was borne, in part, out of my own frustrations finding an apartment in Singapore.

My instructors and classmates at General Assembly gave me feedback throughout this process—as did my friends who generously tested prototypes and took part in user interviews.
