Context
A large airline had an outdated website, and the project scope involved redesigning three key pages to enhance usability and overall experience: the main page, the results page, and the booking page.
Role
I worked on market and UX research, wireframes and design.
Market Research and Competitor's Analysis
First, I researched the market of airlines, both Russian and International. It included S7, Ural Airlines, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, and others. Also, I checked the aggregators, such as Aviasales, Anywayanyday and similar. Added selected screens according to the sequence of actions.
User research - personas
Next, researched available documentation, articles, media sources about the company. It helped to understand better the value and main strengths, and to create user personas.
Importantly, there are a lot of clients 45+, so the website shouldn't be too minimalistic, with just a search panel and that's it. The purpose was to keep it familiar to frequent users, add clarity to each step, exclude misunderstanding by adding help tulips with explanation.
Final designs
The main challenge was to update the results' and comparison's pages so it felt lighter and more structured. It was done by using a grid, working with the colors more restrained, dividing blocks by thin frames and by adding more white.
Results
Thanks to this test task, I got a job.
