Desirée is a designer, speaker, and editor whose practice has spanned a diverse range of spaces in interaction design. She is driven by a desire to push the boundaries of digital design in service of creative expression, and giving people agency over their own presence and opportunities on the web. Currently supporting design teams at Crossbeam by day, and authors at A List Apart by night. Her superpower is assembling IKEA furniture.

Side Projects
A List Apart has been the webzine for people who make websites since before some of you were born 🙀. As a member of ALA's editorial team, I'm always on the lookout for people who want to write about creating things on the web. Partnering with designers to help their ideas influence web standards and helping them find their confidence as writers, is one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
Started building a certified wildlife habitat using native plants in my Austin TX home. Slowly working towards earning my Master Gardener certification.
