Aspiring UX Designer in South Africa

Work Experience

2024 — 2024
Paardevlei, South Africa

I picked up contract work, as part of a referral, to improve the internal recruitment process (incl. sourcing, screening, interviews, talent coordination, employment documentation, onboarding etc). I also moved all their contracts, legal documents and paperwork onto PandaDoc, and automated most of the process, to ensure for a easy and efficient process.

Contract work was completed; and I am now looking for my next opportunity whilst upskilling in UX Design & Front End Development.

2023 — 2023
South Africa, Remote

After a two month recruitment process, I was hired to join the Operations team at Teraflow. Our team worked in an agile environment and all consisted of A-Players, and my main responsibilities was knowledgebase management, financial operations (invoicing, cashflow management, training/exam management, travel and expenses & many more). I was fortunate to start building an internal chatbot for the company and finished it right before I left, which piqued my interest in software development.

2022 — 2023
South Africa, Remote

I had the opportunity to change careers, and enter the tech industry as an Operations Manager. I assisted with HROps, FinOps, and project coordination. I worked directly under the COO.

Reason for leaving: Retrenchment (short time)

2018 — 2022
South Africa

I started as an Admin Assistant for an online retailer. As we expanded, I built and established the Logistics department. After a year of this, we needed help so I recruited and interviewed possible candidates, trained them and mentored them throughout my career at Futurama.

Volunteering

2020 — 2022
Volunteer at Animal Welfare Society
South Africa

I regularly volunteered at the Animal Welfare Society (three different branches) and walked dogs, played with puppies, assisted with special needs dogs on walks etc.

2017 — 2018
Day Care Assistant Volunteer at Little Rascals School
South Africa

Whilst trying to figure out what field I wanted to work in, I explored hands-on volunteering and part of this was volunteering at a day care. I started with kiddies age 4-5, and after a few months went down to babies age 0-1, as they required more specialised care. I also completed a First Aid and Child Care course to expand my knowledge during this time. Although it was a hardworking and good experience, I didn't feel mentally stimulated enough and realised I need something where I could be challenged.
