### The Role

High [quality design](https://stripe.com/en-pl/sessions/2024/craft-and-beauty-the-business-value-of-form-in-function) is table stakes for us. Whether it’s workers using our app, businesses using our portal to engage with them or prospects trying to find out more about our company, people should look forward to using our product and *want* to be associated with our brand. As the lead product designer, you will have a huge influence on whether or not we achieve this.

You will lead the design of features from ideation to delivery, ensuring high-quality execution at every stage. Working with the rest of the team as part of a single, cohesive unit you will identify problems and use a proactive, collaborative mindset to figure out solutions, communicate them effectively and build consensus. Working truly end-to-end, you will be judged by what ends up in the hands of our users, not what’s in Figma.

A pivotal role for the company, you have the confidence, strength and experience to shape not only our product and brand but also how we work as a team and the standards we hold ourselves to.

### You should apply if…

* **You make beautiful, functional products.** You know what ‘good design’ is and have at least 7 years of experience building web and mobile products that work flawlessly *and* look amazing. You apply deep knowledge of design principles, processes and tools to rapidly conceptualise and iterate on features while maintaining meticulous attention to detail, ensuring interactions and visual flourishes enhance user delight.

* **You really care about [the work](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKBVLzOZyLw&themeRefresh=1).** Focus on the outcome. Collaborate openly, sweat the details, go back to the drawing board, confront difficult conversations, give and receive critical feedback with an open, constructive mindset - do what it takes to build the best thing possible.

* **You have [taste](https://paulgraham.com/taste.html) and are decisive.** Speed will be critical to our success so you must be decisive and use your judgement to balance the trade-offs that come with moving quickly.

* **You are a brilliant communicator.** Whether it is digging for information or presenting your ideas to the team, your verbal and written communication is excellent.

* **You advocate for the user.** Stay user-focused by continuously engaging with user pain points, needs, and aspirations, using research insights to inform and justify design decisions.

* **You are focused on outcomes and objectives.** You enjoy working in a team driving towards the same goal. You are able to think strategically, allocate resources effectively and execute swiftly to hit targets.

### This isn’t for you if…

* **You are paralysed by ambiguity.** Not knowing is a feature, not a bug - if everything had been figured out there wouldn’t be an opportunity. We’re constantly learning, iterating, and trying new things.

* **You need to be told what to do.** We expect people to be energetic, proactive and driven by their own initiative to move us towards our goals.

* **You want to manage a team.** We intend to keep the team as small as we can so we’re looking for an experienced Product Designer who is focused on directly practicing their craft rather than growing a team.

* **You want to only design.** Your desire for impact should not be limited by your job title.

* **You don’t want to speak to customers.** This should be a given.

### Benefits

* **Salary:** £75-95k, depending on skill level.

* **Equity**: Early-stage \*\*\*\*package of meaningful equity as part of low-tax EMI scheme.

* **Work style**: Ideally you would make it into our [office](https://www.foraspace.com/london-workspaces/one-lyric-square) (Hammersmith, London) at least once per week but we’re flexible.

* **Time off**: \*\*\*\*We don’t track it but everyone gets the same allowance of 35 days (including public holidays) to keep things fair.

* **Personal Development Budget**: £500 p.a.

* **Family friendly**: Most of the team have young children so we’re well acquainted with the demands that can fall on your time that fall outside of work.

### The Process

1. **Apply!**

2. **Initial call of 30 mins** with the founders to introduce ourselves to each other, learn more about Rodeo and get to know each other a bit.

3. **Technical interview of 45 mins** with a few of the team who will be working most closely with you who will tell you more about the role and gauge your technical skills and experience.

4. **Final interview of 45 mins** to meet the rest of the team and for both us and you to better understand the degree to which there is a personal and professional fit.

5. **References**: this goes both ways, you can meet us and people we've worked with before and we'd like to chat to people who have worked with you before too.
