We’re a team of 50. From the product team, you'll be joining 1 designer (Kunal, previously engineer) and Teresa (previously Head of Design at Superhuman). We don’t have PM’s because we empower design and engineering to be the point decision-makers of our customer needs alongside our CEO.
Role Summary:
This is effectively a “design engineer” role, but most companies define this role to lean more into engineering than design, where engineers are involved earlier in the process to contribute to mocks, interactions, prototypes, and design systems.
At Rilla, we are intentionally looking for a full stack product designer aka, designer who codes so it’s clear that we’re looking for someone who is design-first. The designer will be involved from the very beginning of any feature development. You will uncover the space and problem by talking to our customers directly, and will have strong input towards what we build in our product roadmap. You will then extend your design impact to even later in the process as you help build out the feature.
On the design side… You will define the problem, understand the users, shape the product requirements, and craft every detail of new product features, from idea to UX to pixel-perfect execution.
On the engineering side… Your contribution will look different depending on the project, as well as your experience and interest. This could be anything from: bringing the designs to life, polishing the feature in code, or building design systems that help design and engineering move faster.

We’re customer-obsessed. One of many examples: we don’t have a typical customer support team because we want our engineers, the team building our product, to understand our customers’ pain points directly. Note: this role will not involve explicit customer support responsibilities.

We work hard. We’re 6 days/week in person. This looks like 10+ hrs/day Monday to Friday, and meetings starting in the afternoon on Sunday. Have experience in product design (Figma) and some experience in production-level coding in HTML, CSS, Javascript
- Bonus: experience in front-end engineering (eg. React, Tailwind) with an openness to learn

The total compensation for this role includes an estimated base salary for this role is $110,000 - $240,000, with competitive equity and a plethora of benefits.
