What are your team rituals?

When we turned into a remote-first studio, we had to switch up our rituals quite a bit – having lunch together or a beverage after work wasn't an option for us anymore. So here's an overview of our rituals:

  1. Weekly Team Kick-Offs, every day Monday at 10:00 am

  2. Weekly Design Critiques

  3. Flexible Project Kick-Offs and Syncs, cadence depending on project and team

  4. Monthly Team Retros, every last Thursday of the month

  5. (Bi-)annual Team On-Sites, always in a different city to get the whole team together

What design tools do you use day to day?

Like most of the industry, we are heavily relying on Figma for UI Design and feel most at home. While we are very comfortable with our processes already, we still explore how we can improve and optimize our workflows – the cool thing about working so closely between design and engineering is that we can create our own plug-ins when necessary.

Figma can be limiting though. So we try to branch out as much as possible and use the Adobe Suite as well as Blender for design work, too – and occasionally also Protopie or Code for Prototyping and Visual Explorations.

Milan's always excited about typography, so we created https://www.featuredtype.com/ as a small side project to find a home for his typographic explorations, that hopefully also serve as a source of inspiration and benefit the design community at large.
