Front End Web Designer/Developer
Digital Scholar is in search of a dynamic front end web designer/developer to work across a range of open-source infrastructure projects in the digital humanities. Your job will be to help make the end user experiences for our projects the best they can be.
The ideal candidate for this position will be comfortable working developing front-end themes for content management systems and static site generators that meet the needs of internal and external audiences. Our project teams are committed to the highest standards of usability and accessibility as we work with scholars, students, and public users. You should be comfortable collaborating with a range of designers and developers dedicated to making high-quality front end and administrative interfaces for digital humanities software projects. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to engage with and support the vibrant community of users, developers, and designers who work with those products.
We are a dispersed team with an anchor group in Falls Church VA, and we meet up quarterly, but primarily you will be working remotely, communicating with the project teams and users via Slack, forums, GitHub, and web conference. We have a highly collaborative but asynchronous workflow, and you will be in control of your own schedule. Our hours are flexible and variable, but we maintain core availability between 10am and 4pm Eastern (America/New York).
