Introduce us to your team

We are a small remote group of designers focused on building a high-quality toolkit to empower remote teams to make their work as efficient and joyful as office work could ever be.

What are your team rituals?

We meet three times a week (virtually) here; we share updates from the weekend, discuss our top priorities for the week, and review each other's work.

Once a week, we come together with some of our engineers and plan and discuss design improvements that are not part of any of the product teams—ensuring the overall quality of our product.

We keep occasional "What if days," the designer equivalent of a Hackington. For this day, we set an out-of-the-box challenge for ourselves: "What would it look like if we designed a writing app for the Television" or "What if our app had sound"—out-of-the-box ideas to keep a fresh perspective on the problems that we are trying to solve.

Despite our good async culture, we have always seen the great benefits of "real-life" catchups. We call them Offslites and they serve three purposes: Team Building, alignment on strategy, and innovation. These things are tough to build fully at a distance, and we consider offslites crucial to how we work at Slite.

We have three types of gatherings at Slite: All-hands Offslites, where all the team gathers 2x a year for four nights. Optional Squad or regional Offslites and Newcomer Gatherings.

Our Head of Design, Danny Ruchtie, is working on a small project for his kids. Bringing multiplayer and the power of Stable division to a simple sketching app for the iPad and he is also working on a local first-writing app powered by Ai (GPT-3)
