In 2018, I took a sabbatical and had a chance to explore game-making as a creative practice. I found that I enjoyed making short experiences, centered on world-building, mood-making, and/or novel mechanics.
Mostly made in Pico-8, a fantasy console emulator with constraints on code and asset size, and a built-in art tool and music composer.

My dog Lychee had passed away suddenly right before sabbatical, and I was inspired by this grief. Home is about reliving your best experiences with your loved ones.

I had just left Facebook to take this sabbatical, and the impact of my work weighed heavily on my mind. I've always been interested dystopian worlds, and how they reflect our anxieties and catastrophization. In the case of tech and the gig economy, I don't think our dystopias are too far off.
