### **What happens when I delete something from my profile that has been highlighted on the front page?**

The post will be automatically removed from the Front Page.

### **What happens if I change or remove a status which is on the Front Page?**

Your old status will remain on the Front Page.

### **What is the Activity tab?**

The activity tab is a chronological view of the most recent status updates on the site.

### **I don't want something removed from the Front Page, what do I do?**

### **How do I create a page?‏‏‎ ‎**

Open the profile editor and click the pencil icon to navigate to the writing tab. From here click the `New page` button in the top right of the writing tab.

### **How do I format text?**

When the document is focused click the **Turn into** dropdown in the toolbar to change the current text block into a heading, list, code-block, or blockquote.

### **How do I insert an image?**

When the document is focused click the **Insert** dropdown in the toolbar, then click **Photos and video**. This will open the photo uploader where you can drag and drop photos and video into the modal, or click the **upload** button to select files from your computer.

### **What can I embed in a page?**

Currently you can embed a Tweet, Vimeo video, or any Figma file or prototype.

To add an embed, click the **Insert** dropdown in the toolbar when the document is focused, then click **Embed**. Choose between a Twitter, Vimeo, or Figma embed and paste the relevant link in the embed modal. Lastly click **Insert** and the embed will show up in your Page.

### **How do I password protect my page?**

In the page editor click the **Draft** or **Published** button in the toolbar, and then click **Password protect**. From that menu you will be able to add or remove a password from your page. Only users who enter the correct password will be able to see your page.

### **How do I preview my page?**

Click the **Draft** button in the toolbar and then select **Preview draft**. If your page is already published click the **Published** button in the toolbar and then select **Preview changes**.

### **How do I publish my page?**

Click the **Publish** button in the bottom right of the page editor.

### **How do I revert my page to a draft?**

Navigate to the writing tab in the profile editor and find the page you would like to **unpublish**. Click the **unpublish** action button under the page you'd like to revert to a draft.

### **How do I revert my changes to a published page?**

Click the **Published** button in the toolbar and select **Revert changes**.

### **How do I delete my page?**

Navigate to the writing tab in the profile editor and find the page you would like to **delete**. Click the **delete** action button under the page you'd like to delete.

Anytime someone you follow updates their profile, page, or status you'll be able to see it in your Following tab (which can be found by clicking the Menu button on the bottom left corner). This way, you can keep up to date with anyone on the platform!

If you come across someone you'd like to follow, simply click on their profile and press the follow button located on the bottom left corner of the screen. Afterwards, you will be able to see updates from them in your Following tab!

On your following tab, you can see who has recently followed you as the top notification. If you click the "see all" button, a list of who follows you and who you're following will pop up.

Team profiles are best suited for small to medium (2 to 50) sized groups of people that directly work together. A few examples might include product or design teams within larger organizations, startups, or studios. We don't suggest trying to make team profiles for large organizations (e.g. all of Meta), but rather breaking them into smaller organizational functions.

We know how difficult it is to create content from scratch, so we designed prompts to make it easier for teams to create compelling, comprehensive profiles in no time! The prompts include questions ranging from “What type of music does your team listen to?” to the classic “Should designers code?”

### **How do I answer a prompt?**

Switch to the `About` tab in your Team Dashboard. After navigating to the `About` tab, you will see three pre-selected prompts with blank `Text` blocks. To edit a `Text` block, hover over it and click the edit icon that pops up on the right-hand side. Hover over the `Text` block and click `Insert block` to add more content to your answers.

You may choose to change or add more prompts, re-arrange them, or delete unnecessary ones.

### **How do I add an image to a prompt?**

Hover over an existing block and click `Insert block`. You will be given the choice to select `Photo and Video`. You will be prompted to choose a layout after which you can click the `Add image` button to fill in the layout.

### **How do I add an embed to a prompt?**

Hover over an existing block and click `Insert block`. You will be given the choice to select `Embed`. You’ll be able to choose between different platforms and add the appropriate url to insert there.

### **How do I show my Team member in a prompt?**

Hover over an existing block and click `Insert block`. You will be given the choice to select `Members`. You’ll be able to choose between different layouts to display the members of your team.

### **How do I get my prompt featured on the Front Page of [Read.cv](http://Read.cv)?**

We feature the most interesting answers to prompts on the Front Page of Read.cv. There's no guarantee that we will feature your prompt.

### **How do I add a member to my Team?**

Navigate to the `Members` tab of the Team Dashboard. After navigating to the members tab, click the `Add members` button at the top right corner of the page and search for your teammates there. If you are adding someone who doesn't have a Read.cv profile you can invite them by email.

### **How do I make someone an admin on my Team?**

Navigate to the `Members` tab of the Team Dashboard and look for the member you'd like to make an admin. Click the dropdown on the right hand side of their name and choose `Admin`. Alternatively, when adding new members to your Team, you can also select a preferred role for them there.

### **How do I remove someone from my Team?**

Navigate to the `Members` tab of the Team Dashboard and look for the member you'd like to remove.  Click the dropdown on the right hand side of their name and choose `Alumni`. `Alumni` will not show up on your team page, but they are able to show your team as a past team on their profile.

You can fully delete `Alumni` by clicking the dropdown and selecting `Remove`. Once you do this they will no longer be able to display your team on their profile as a past team.

### **How do I create a job listing on for my Team?**

Navigate to the `Careers` tab in the team dashboard. Click the `Add open role` button in the top right corner. This will open the `Add position` creator . Once you’ve filled in all the details you will be able to save and view it on your profile.

Job listings can be created using your personal profile or team profile. We suggest using a team profile to communicate your team culture alongside your job description, but if you are in a hurry to get a job listing live you can use your personal account.

For job listings made with your personal profile you will need to upload company details such as a company logo, name, and url.

For job listings made with team profiles this information will be derived from your team profile.

### **How do I create a job listing with my personal profile?**

On desktop, click your profile photo in the bottom of the sidebar and choose `Manage account` > `Job listings`.

On mobile, click the menu button in the bottom left corner of the screen and tap `Manage account` > `Job listings`.

From there you can create and manage your job listings.

### **How do I create a job listing with my team profile?**

If you have created a job listing with a team profile navigate to the `Careers` tab in the team dashboard, then click the `Delete` button on the job listing.

Deleting a job listing will cancel your subscription and cannot be undone.

### **How do I enable or disable auto-renew?**

If you have created a job listing with your personal profile navigate `Manage account` > `Job listings`. Toggle the `Auto-renew` button on the job listing you want enable or disable auto-renew on.

If you have created a job listing with a team profile navigate to the `Careers` tab in the team dashboard, then toggle the `Auto-renew` checkbox on the job listing.

If auto-renew is enabled your job listing will automatically renew in 30 days from when it began. You will be charged for another 30 days, and your job listing will bump to the top of the [Front Page](https://read.cv/explore) and [Open Roles](https://read.cv/open-roles).

If auto-renew is disabled your job listing will automatically expire at the end of the 30 days and will no longer be public unless you choose to renew the subscription.

### **What happens if I delete my job listing before the 30 day subscription ends?**

Your subscription will be immediately cancelled and you will not get billed for any future dates. However we do not prorate the remaining days left on your subscription.

### **What are personal domains?**

Personal domains allow you to turn your profile into your own personal website. You can assign your own domain to it (e.g. yourdomain.com), customize the typography, and even change the theme. Personal domains make sharing your profile even more professional and personalized.

### **How do I unlock personal domains?**

Personal domains are a premium feature which can be unlocked by becoming a subscriber to our [supporter tier](https://read.cv/about/supporters).

Previously, personal domains used to be a free feature that could be unlocked by referring 5 people to read.cv. We will be deprecating the ability to unlock this feature via referrals on Tuesday, September 5th 2023. If you have previously unlocked this feature via referrals you will be legacied into the feature.

### **How do I set a custom domain?**

On desktop, click your profile photo in the bottom of the sidebar and choose `Manage account` > `Personal domain`.

On mobile, click the menu button in the bottom left corner of the screen and tap `Manage account` > `Personal domain`.

Once you have entered your domain name you will be prompted to update your DNS settings with your domain registrar (the website you used to purchase your domain). If you are unfamiliar with how to do update your DNS settings please contact the website you used to purchase your domain. Once you have updated your DNS settings you will see a green checkmark indicated that your custom domain has been updated.

### **How do I change the typography on my personal domain?**

Open the Profile Editor from your profile and click Personal Domain in the left hand column. From there you will be able to choose between 'Sans', 'Serif', and 'Mono'.

### **How do I change the theme on my personal domain?**

Open the Profile Editor from your profile and click Personal Domain in the left hand column. From there you will be able to choose from six visually distinct themes in addition to the default theme.

### **How does the status feature work?‏‏‎ ‎**

The status feature serves as a lightweight way of letting people know what you're up to. For example if you're a freelancer you might use it to communicate your upcoming availability.

To set a status, navigate to your profile and hover over your profile photo. Click the 'Set status' button that appears. Once you clear a status it's gone forever.

### **How do I edit my profile?**

Navigate to your profile and click the pencil icon in the bottom left corner of the screen.

### **How do I tag other people in my profile?**

When adding a new item to your profile, use the 'collaborators' field to search for other people to tag. If you're adding a new education item the field will be titled 'classmates'. If you're adding a new work experience item the field will be titled 'coworkers'.

### **How do I reorder sections?**

Navigate to your profile and click the pencil icon in the bottom left corner of the screen. Drag the sections in the left hand column of the profile editor up or down using the drag icon in each row.

### **How do I reorder items published in the same year?**

Items published in the same year can be reordered using the 'Move up' and 'Move down' buttons located to the right of the 'Edit' and 'Delete' buttons in the profile editor. Contact items can also be reordered this way.

### **Can I print my profile?**

Yes, CV features print optimized profiles. When you print your profile it will be typographically optimized for size, layout, and legibility.

### **How can I hide certain sections when printing my CV?**

Open the profile editor and click on the 'Print' tab. From here you can choose which sections are included in your printed CV. Toggling these sections will have no affect on your profile when viewed on the web.

### **How do I create a post?**

On `desktop`, click the `+` button at the bottom of the sidebar. The post composer should pop up with the option to input text and/or upload media. Then once you’re ready to share, click the `Post` button at the bottom right!

On `mobile`, click the `+` button at the bottom right of the screen. The post composer should pop up with the option to input text, take a photo, upload media, and/or share your location. Then once you’re ready to share, click the `Post` button at the top right!

### **Who can reply to my post?**

By default, anyone who is signed into Posts can reply to your post. You can, however, change these settings to `People you follow` and `People you mention` in the post composer.

On `desktop`, the option to select who can reply to your post can be found at the top left corner of the post composer. Once clicked, you can change the default setting from `Anyone can reply` to your preferred setting.

On `mobile`, the option to select who can reply to your post can be found at the bottom right corner of the post composer. Once clicked, you can change the default setting from `Anyone can reply` to your preferred setting.

### **Who can see my posts?**

All posts are public and will be visible to anybody viewing Posts on desktop and/or signed in on mobile.

### **Will my posts show up on my Read.cv profile?**

No - Posts are live in an intentionally separate space from your Read.cv profile to foster a more casual atmosphere.

### **How can I access my DMs?**

On `desktop`, click the paper airplane icon (fourth from the top) on the sidebar to access the `Replies` tab. You should see any ongoing conversations you have there. (If you’re looking to start a conversation with someone, you can do so by clicking on their profile and messaging them from there.)

On `mobile`, DMs are not available yet - but we’re working on it!

### **How do I adjust notification settings?**

On `mobile`, click the notifications tab at the bottom of the screen and tap the settings icon at the top left corner of the screen. You should find the options to toggle various notifications on/off there.

### **How do I bookmark a post?**

Bookmarks are a [supporter-only](https://read.cv/support/supporters) feature.

If you are a supporter, you can bookmark a post by tapping on the `...` button on any post, and selecting `Bookmark post`.

To access your bookmarks on `mobile`, navigate to your `Profile` and tap the `...` button in the top right corner of the screen and select `Bookmarks`.

To access your bookmarks on `desktop` you can find the `Bookmarks` icon in the left navigation.

Replies are a private way to send someone feedback on any profile item, status, or page. You can send anything from a quick emoji to a lengthy paragraph to kick off a conversation!

You can leave a reply from the explore page, following feed, or someone's profile or page. To reply to someones profile item on desktop, hover over an item and click the arrow icon on the right. To reply to someones profile item on mobile, swipe left on a profile item.

You can view all your replies by clicking the menu icon on the bottom left corner and accessing the replies tab. You should be able to see all your conversations there!

### **Are my replies public?**

All replies are sent privately — there's no need to worry about anything unsavory being posted on your profile!

### **How can I disable replies?**

You can change who can leave you replies by clicking the menu button in the bottom left corner and accessing the Settings tab. From here you can change your reply privacy to `Everyone`, `Following` (only people you follow), or `Nobody`. You'll still be able to leave replies even if people can't reply to you.

### **How do I report/block someone?**

We're sorry to hear that you've had a negative experience on our platform! You can do so by locating the icon with three dots (found at the top right corner) and selecting the appropriate option.

You can modify the details of an active subscription by navigating to `Manage account` > `Subscription`, and choosing `Change`. The changes will come into effect during your the next billing cycle.

### **How do I cancel my subscription?**

You can cancel an active subscription by navigating to `Manage account` > `Subscription`, and choosing `Change`. From there you can select the free tier. You will maintain your supporter benefits until the billing periods ends, at which point your subscription will expire and not be renewed.

### **Can I hide my supporter badge?**

By default the supporter badge will appear on your Read.cv and [Posts](https://posts.cv) profile, as well as on your posts. You can hide your supporter badge by navigating to `Edit profile` > `General` and disabling the supporter badge option.

### **Why did you build CV?**

We originally wanted an easy to update page where we could list some projects, work history, and other bits that might make us sound competent. Something easy to share, less garish than LinkedIn, and more dynamic than a static PDF. More akin to a text oriented personal website. Something that wasn't just a one off page, where we could bring in friends and collaborators, and profiles could be navigated from one to the other like a blogroll.

That was the original motivation for the platform. Since then we have grown into a vibrant ecosystem of like-minded professionals.

### **What are referral links?**

Referral links are a unique sign-up link you can share with friends to unlock features and rewards. Simply send your friend your link and you will be credited with 1 referral when they sign up as a new user.

### **Who can I send my referral link to?**

You can send your referral link to anyone who doesn't already have a [read.cv](http://read.cv) account.

### **What can I unlock with referral links?**

**10 or more referrals:** Sticker pack\
**25 or more referrals:** Tote bag

### **Where can I find my referral link?**

You can find your referral link by going to `Menu` > `Settings` > `Invite`. Alternatively you can copy and modify the following url with your username:

### **How do I redeem my stickers or tote bag?**

When you unlock these items you will receive an email with a link to a form to redeem your reward. Simply fill out the form and we will mail you your reward!
