I’m Steyn from sunny Cape Town, a designer with 12 years of product experience. I'm currently a customer experience designer at CustomerOS, an open-source operating system for reinventing business from the customer experience up.
Previously, I’ve spent most of my time in early-stage startups where I helped validate the riskiest assumptions on various projects. We failed and succeeded. Some of these include a texting app in Silicon Valley, Africa's biggest crowdfunding platform and making space tech farmer-friendly.

I help build CustomerOS, an open-source operating system for reinventing business from the customer experience up.
I contributed to bitcoin.design, an open community of designers and developers working together to make bitcoin more accessible and intuitive. I worked primarily on improving the Savings Wallet Guide.
I worked within a small, cross-functional team, helping to make it lightning-fast, yet secure, for people to access their money.
I also lead, mentored and helped other designers to hone their craft.
I worked on a couple of key business projects including, upgrading the Luno exchange, relaunching our Nigerian market and blitz-scaling the team from 5 to 30 designers.
In my spare time, I mentored and helped 25+ students in achieving their goals of becoming UX and UI designers.
I co-founded FarmPin to help make space tech farmer friendly by putting satellite health & moisture maps and growth graphs into a farmer's hands.
Afrolabs is a startup lab where I helped early stage startups validate their riskiest assumptions.
Helped design the iMessage for Android. Acquired by Google in 2018.
Design at Mxit, a texting app that had ~7.4 million subscribers.
Game Cards was a digital trading card game too early for its time. Perhaps it would have been perfect for today's blockchain era.
