I helped spin up Instagram's first efforts to bring AR effects to Instagram. At the time, we had no creative art team or 3D technical artists. In addition to designing the UI for choosing face filters, I worked with a creative agency to art direct the first set of 10 or so filters. Additionally, I built numerous prototypes in what was then called MSQRD Editor (now Spark AR Studio), and eventually worked with our agency and another designer on our team, Joe Howard, to actually build out the filters for launch and beyond.
This was a fun yet demanding project that brought together my technical skills and my creative background, while also providing a great introduction to AR & 3D design.
