My Favourite Apps and Sites
Highlighting my favourite apps and sites that I discovered this year!
Corner
free app
What it is: create & share lists of your favourite places
Why I love it: aesthetic way to create lists of my favourite places, cute UX/UI, easy to use, very useful for travel planning, easy way to document and review my favourite places, easy to share lists with others (whereas with Apple and Google Maps it is a bit harder to share). Now I never have to ask myself, "what's the name of that place again?" or, "I can't remember what I ordered".
Retro
free app
What it is: photo-dumping with close friends
Why I love it: effortless to contribute, fun engagement, no need to 'edit' or 'perfect' your photos- just add dump photos from your camera roll. minimal work required.
Curius.app
free chrome extension
What it is: your curated library of the internet
Why I love it: easy integration into Chrome, helpful for MSc readings with the highlighting feature, easiest way for me to document interesting things I read (as opposed to always emailing/bookmarking/highlighting), good for type A personality.
Read.cv
free site
What it is: multimedia, minimalistic CV builder
Why I love it: minimalistic design, easy to use and update, allows me to feature projects and events (something I find that is not as easy to do on LinkedIn)
Posts.cv
free website + testflight app
What it is: portfolios as social media
Why I love it: I get a wide range of inspiration: books, case studies, design, photography, etc. even though lots of people on posts.cv are not in my field (health sciences), I still enjoy going through the feed and looking at everyone's ideas.
Duolingo
free app
What it is: gamified language learning
Why I love it: gamification works: I refuse to break my 150+ day streak. bite-sized lessons makes learning everyday sustainable and enjoyable.
1 Second Everyday (1SE)
free app
What it is: 1 second everyday of your life
Why I love it: turns my life into a movie, by capturing one moment every day. the concept is simple and the execution is lovely. great to look back on.
Substack
free site + app
What it is: email newsletter builder
Why I love it: I used Substack to build my newsletter, Invite Health. I found Substack easy to use, and enjoyed the customizations.
VSCO
app
What it is: easy photo editing + photography gallery
Why I love it: easy to use, aesthetic presets, feed has lovely photography which is great for inspiration
Partiful
free app + website
What it is: lowkey event planning , "facebook events for hot people"
Why I love it: easy to use, aesthetic and quirky interface, makes event planning super easy (ex: text blasts, invite lists, event details)
