About

Rebecca Miralrio is an art history graduate student based in New York City with over 5 years of experience working in the art world. Her research interests focus on conceptual art, durational practices, and scent. She previously worked as exhibition assistant at the Institute for Studies on Latin American Art (ISLAA). She has completed internships at the Museum of the City of New York, the Whitney, The Frick Collection, BRIC Arts, and the Guggenheim.

Art history student Rebecca Miralrio reflects on the multiple histories woven together in Carolina Caycedo's artwork Mujeres en mi.

2021

Created for the Guggenheim's "Student Conversations on Art" audio series. This project is meant to inspire listeners to use art and storytelling as a point of connection for understanding identity and exploring expansive, thought-provoking, and unique viewpoints. Ni Aqui Ni Alla (Neither Here Nor There) is a bilingual conversation between intern Rebecca Miralrio and her father, Jose. Switching between English and Spanish, the duo engages in creating an oral history guided by Robert Smithson’s Yucatan Mirror Displacements (1-9).

Contribute research towards the curatorial department’s upcoming exhibitions and public programs and assist with bibliographic and biographical research related to forthcoming publications.

Manage the artist's email correspondence, prepare reimbursements, pay contractors and rent, purchase materials, and handle deliveries. Maintain the exhibition calendar, update art records, manage grant and residency applications, and assist with project research. Manage scheduling, book work-related travel, copy-edit statements, and ensure smooth operations for the studio, including emergency unlocking and organizing documents.

Assisted the chief curator and curatorial manager with research, artist liaising, and public programming. Handled exhibition logistics, including checklist management, framing and conservation coordination, artwork shipping, and installation preparation. Wrote and edited public-facing texts such as press releases and artist bios. Assisted with press outreach and provided operational support across ISLAA's departments.

Supported the execution of two major exhibitions, "Byzantine Bembé" and "People, Place, and Influence." Researched, developed, and managed object lists, conducted audience and visitor engagement research, and observed the management of cross-departmental workflows and budgets under the guidance of the Associate Director of Curatorial Projects and Curatorial Associate.

Assisted the gallery director in overseeing and managing gallery openings, closures, events, and maintenance. Created promotional content for social media and newsletters. Conducted artist research and interviews and developed press releases. Provided logistical and hands-on support for over seven gallery exhibitions and three art fair presentations.
