About

I am currently managing the design team for New Initatives at Swiggy. I have worked across all domains in hyperlocal / food delivery, and the consumer facing aspects of e-commerce.

I am a hard of hearing person, who gets by well with hearing aids. Brought up in a city called Chennai in South India, I've spent my adult life as an engineer, researcher and now my dream role as a Product Designer.

Say hi for anything related to design and accessibility!

Projects

2022

Swiggy Minis is a technology platform that empowers D2C sellers to create their own storefront with their desired appearance and content as a mini store. They share their mini store link on social media to acquire new customers, who can easily browse their Mini store and order with Swiggy login or as a guest. All deliveries are handled by sellers themselves, with Swiggy charging zero commissions!

I started with managing a single designer and doing hands on work at the start of 2021, before I hired a manager for Minis after the MVP launch in July 2021. I've been regularly involved in collaborating with the Minis manager to continuously add new features to the Minis seller experience, empowering D2C sellers to improve their acquisition and retention of customers. The last two years have been focused on solidifying key features like coupons, MetaPixel, handling returns, enhancing Minis chat platform, and sharing customer reviews as social media posts.

As of Feb 2024, Swiggy Minis has 16756 Monthly Active Sellers, with 25% of them transacting atleast 4 times a month. We hit our PMF of 9000 Monthly active sellers a year after launch through both seller outreach and organic word of mouth.

2020

Instamart is Swiggy's second foray into groceries, after Swiggy Stores which aggregates existing stores in cities. It caters to the urban convenience seekers & online grocery shoppers who rely on instant delivery of groceries & weekly grocery baskets. Instamart offers real-time inventory control from Swiggy’s dark stores, reducing cancellations & increasing order fulfillments

I managed a team of two designers, each working on pre-order & post-order journeys of Instamart. We worked at speed with 3 product managers, 8 front-end & back-end engineers, marketing team, biz team & the merch creative teams.

I provided guidance to my team during the process and contributed to hands-on deliverables for engineering, merch and marketing assets in a tight window. The project was green-lighted on May 06, 2020 and first launch was on Aug 10, 2020 in Gurgaon.

2019

Design the Swiggy Go experience to allow people to get anything delivered from one point to another point in the city. The intent is to allow for as much flexibility as possible with Swiggy Go for customers, and to realize the true potential of someone doing your tasks for you.

I was managing a team of 4 designers who were working on other products and services (food, supply and delivery), so I took up the individual contribution role for Swiggy Go, along with designing the post-order workflows for both Swiggy Stores and Swiggy Go.

In order to keep the tech effort to a minimum, we would make the Stores and Go storefront as a PWA, and the post-order experience for Stores and Go would have the same framework but contextual order status and updates.

2018

Understand the current delivery app framework and pain points, and help the delivery app designer to create a new scalable “Super Delivery app” that works for any kind of service line that Swiggy releases in future

I managed the sole designer working on the delivery platform, working closely with him to gain an in-depth understanding of the delivery ecosystem and all the moving parts and pain points already identified by him.

I took his help and guidance on most aspects of the design in the early stages, and finally helped him understand framework-level thinking and how to apply it to multiple scenarios, keeping in mind the existing mental models and ways of working of our humongous delivery fleet.

2017

Create a 0 to 1 owner app as a much needed feature for restaurant owners and area managers to be able to analyse Swiggy-specific data points outside of the POS integrations, especially customer ratings and the frequency of order cancellations.

2017

Identify the gaps in the help & support experience for customers to get contextual assistance for their queries. This includes heuristic evaluation and talking to customer care agents to diagnose the biggest causes of customer calls. Additionally, build a chat-bot experience for the key issues, to minimize human interaction and quickly resolve issues.
