Apixio is a health tech company that runs ML models on structured and unstructured medical data to extract medical conditions that are used for various health care and insurance purposes.

I helped scale data platform and microservices. I improved the developer speed and execution by setting coding standards, code review practices, interview training and hiring practices.

Building Research Projects at Facebook

I worked on two different research projects in parallel.

Enabling communication through a haptic feedback enabled sleeve. I built out the software for controlling and rendering speech signals on an haptic device.

Enabling academic research regarding social determinants of health (SDOH) on social data. I designed and architected a privacy secure way of joining confidential data sets in a way to get regulatory approval.

Oculus VR Experiences
Shipped several pre-loaded experiences (such as Cinema, Photos, Videos) for the first releases of Gear VR head set. Designed and shipped a adaptive video streaming protocol for 360 VR Video experience.

Facebook Android App at Facebook

I wrote the Newsfeed backend for Android and lead the android feed team that saw the growth of the app from 100M to 1B active users.

Founding Engineer of TAO

TAO is a geographically distributed data
store that provides efficient and timely access to the social graph for Facebook’s demanding workload using a
fixed set of queries.

I was on the found team and built out major features such as in-memory cache, eventual consistency protocol, scalable worker threads and help scale to more than 1B QPS.

Founding Engineer of Apache Hive

I was a major contributor to Apache Hive and part of the founding team. I conceived and built Hive Meta Store and various query optimization techniques.

I built the recommender system for various Yahoo properties such as Shopping, Real Estate, Auto, Finance.
