Google requires applicants to create a design exercise as part of the application process. At the time, there were no examples posted online by people who actually got the job. As a result, I had to guess what Google would be looking for, which felt more like a game of chance than a test of skill. After getting the job offer, I decided to share mine in hope that it might help others prepare for this step properly.
