About

I find fulfillment in shaping new ideas, creating, and designing for people who make things. When possible, I approach design with optimism and humor.

Projects

Ongoing

Led shaping and product design for a new recognition feature. Users can earn Achievements to share on their profile for their activity on GitHub. Achievements focus on core behaviors on the platform, whether it's contributing to OSS, participating in software communities, or hacking on personal projects.

2021

Collaborated with Brian (design lead) on Lists, a way to organize starred repositories. I supported the internal socialization of the idea and designed the dotcom experience. In the near term, Lists is a categorization and curation feature. In the long term, Lists could evolve into custom feeds or collaborative curation.

2021

Led shaping and redesign of new user sign up.

2020

Designed the experience for creating, displaying, and reaching goals on Sponsorship profiles. Users could set a goal for an aspirational sponsorship amount or number of sponsors.

2020

GitHub Sponsors (led by Kat) enabled developers to receive funding for their OSS work. I led the design and initial onboarding process that allowed organizations to participate in the Sponsors program.

2020

Led shaping and design; we introduced a README.md as a “secret” feature that could be added to the user profile. With this canvas, developers could be more creative, playful, and expressive in how they presented themselves on GitHub.

2019
Gist-Playground at GitHub

Led shaping and design on Gist-Playground, an experimental project aimed to introduce live collaboration, runtime, and a social ecosystem to Gists. Iced.

2019
Noodle at GitHub

A very experimental project that explored a web-based IDE. Iced.

2018

We designed and shipped contextual user hovercards. This unlocked the ability to understand a user's contribution and participation history within an organization or repository at a glance.

Side Projects

Ongoing

Slow ceramics, made with patience. I run a small webstore and do occasional drops.

Ongoing

Creating art and small batch goods, powered by my love for retro video games and franchises.
