Tackling key design challenges in a continuous process
Throughout my two-year journey with Simplonline, we encountered several design challenges. One significant issue was the overly complex navigation system, which created friction for users trying to find relevant resources. The diverse audience, ranging from learner to trainer, required a more intuitive structure. Additionally, the platform's pedagogical model lacked interactivity, leaving learners without a clear sense of progress, which negatively impacted completion rates. Lastly, the platform's dashboard failed to communicate key insights effectively, making it harder for users to gauge their learning progress and for stakeholders to access vital data at a glance.
These issues were compounded by the platform's need to scale while maintaining simplicity and inclusivity. The lack of responsive, dynamic design across different devices made it difficult for users to navigate, especially on mobile. The disconnect between the platform’s educational mission and the user experience became a key roadblock to the growth of the platform. Solving these problems required a deep dive into user research, continuous feedback loops, and close collaboration with both users and stakeholders.

Transforming the trainer experience and follow-up of learner progress
To address these challenges, we undertook a complete redesign of the platform’s navigation. After user testing and research, we developed a simplified, device-responsive architecture that catered to all user types, making the interface intuitive across multiple devices. This restructuring not only improved usability but also significantly boosted engagement by making content more accessible and discoverable.
For the pedagogical model, we implemented a dynamic, interactive timeline that allowed learners to track their progress and upcoming learning paths. The introduction of personalized learning journeys empowered users, increasing motivation and overall completion rates. Furthermore, the dashboard was revamped to clearly articulate Simplonline’s mission, with enhanced data visualization that highlighted key metrics in an accessible and visually engaging format. These solutions aligned with Simplonline's ethical and inclusive values, improving both user experience and scalability.

Sharing responsive navigation and real-time learning tools
The redesigned navigation offers users an intuitive experience, allowing them to easily find briefs, resources, or corrections for example. The menu structure adapts dynamically across devices, ensuring seamless use on both mobile and desktop.
The interactive timeline enhances the learning journey by giving users real-time progress tracking. Learners can view upcoming modules, completed tasks, and milestones, making their experience more engaging and personalized.
The dashboard is now more functional, presenting users with key learning metrics, progress summaries, and recommendations, all in a clear, accessible layout. This interactivity encourages continual engagement and helps users stay focused on their goals.

Meeting user needs, driving 80% global adoption over the world
Since the redesign of Simplonline’s platform, global adoption increased by 80%, with steady growth since the project’s inception. By addressing key user needs—simplified navigation and engaging progress tracking—the platform now delivers a highly responsive, user-centered experience. This has directly contributed to improved engagement and retention rates across multiple regions.
The integration of interactive features tailored to learners' needs significantly enhanced the platform’s usability, allowing Simplonline to scale across 15 countries. The design improvements have not only boosted user satisfaction but also enabled the platform to meet its scalability and inclusivity goals.
