About moonpaws

We’re passionate about deepening the personal and emotional connection between pets and their humans through pet-centered astrology (yes, you read that right!), bonding activities, and self-care routines unique to pet owners — and are building status quo challenging products and experiences to match.

Your Role

As our Technical PM, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing and refining moonpaws, as we hope to also make this person a Partner in the business. This position is perfect for someone who thrives on diving deep into complex challenges, building efficient solutions, and maintaining high standards in their work. We need a hands-on partner who values precision and a steady, adaptable approach to bring innovative ideas to life. You’ll be the go-to expert on technical strategy and execution and your input will shape not only the app’s development but our users’ entire experience.

What You’ll Do

• Analyze & Research: Dive deep into technical requirements, research the best approaches for complex challenges, and ensure our solutions are both innovative and sustainable.

• Build & Implement: Take charge of hands-on coding and development in Unity, transforming ideas into tangible features and experiences for our users. Your solutions will be built to last, balancing creativity with functionality.

• Maintain & Optimize: Ensure the app’s functionality is consistent and efficient. You’ll bring structure and clarity to our tech processes, focusing on long-term scalability and user satisfaction.

• Collaborate & Align: Work closely with our business partners, blending technical goals with creative vision. As a foundational member of the team, you’ll align your technical strategy with Moonpaws’ broader mission.

• Innovate Thoughtfully: Approach new ideas with curiosity and a balanced mindset, ready to adapt and innovate when it aligns with our goals. Your solutions will bring fresh ideas to life while staying grounded in practicality.

• Extensive experience in C# and Unity development, with a proven track record of bringing apps or technical solutions to life in ways that enhance user experience.

Qualifications

Core Technical Qualifications

Unity Development Expertise:

• Strong foundation in Unity development, with at least 3 years of experience building, managing, and optimizing applications in Unity.

• Proficiency in C# for scripting within Unity, with the ability to guide coding standards and ensure maintainable, scalable code architecture.

Technical Project Management Skills:

• Experience as a Technical Project Manager or similar role, capable of overseeing the full development lifecycle of technical projects from ideation through deployment and maintenance.

• Skilled in managing timelines, coordinating technical sprints, and balancing short-term deliverables with long-term product goals.

Mobile App Development and Deployment:

• Expertise in mobile app development, with experience deploying and optimizing apps for iOS and Android platforms.

• Familiarity with app store submission processes and compliance requirements for both platforms, ensuring smooth release cycles and adherence to platform standards.

Systems Integration and API Management:

• Experience with integrating RESTful APIs and third-party services (e.g., analytics, notifications, payment systems) into Unity applications.

• Knowledge of backend integration and basic cloud infrastructure (e.g., Firebase, AWS) to support data storage and cross-platform functionality.

Task Tracking and Version Control:

• Proficiency with version control systems, especially Git, for managing code across multiple contributors.

• Strong familiarity with project management tools like Jira, Asana, or Trello, and the ability to organize and prioritize tasks for efficient project delivery.

Project Management and Leadership Skills

Agile Methodology Experience:

• Skilled in Agile project management, with experience leading sprints, managing backlogs, and iterating on deliverables based on user and team feedback.

• Ability to establish Agile processes within the team, track velocity, and adapt workflows to improve efficiency.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Experience working closely with non-technical stakeholders to translate technical requirements, manage expectations, and ensure alignment on project goals.

• Skilled in coordinating efforts between developers, designers, and business stakeholders to create a cohesive product vision and delivery timeline.

Risk Assessment and Problem-Solving:

• Proactive in identifying potential risks, technical challenges, and resource constraints in advance, with the ability to troubleshoot and find efficient solutions.

• Comfortable making data-driven decisions and providing clear guidance when technical pivots or adjustments are needed.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Product Roadmap Development:

• Experience in developing and managing a product roadmap, including defining milestones, setting release timelines, and balancing immediate needs with long-term growth.

Data Analytics and Performance Monitoring:

• Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Unity Analytics) to monitor app performance and user engagement, with the ability to turn data insights into actionable improvements.

Knowledge of Gamification and User Engagement:

• Understanding of gamification principles and engagement strategies to create an enriching user experience, aligned with Moonpaws’ goals of pet-parent engagement.

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:

• Strong documentation skills to maintain project records, create technical specifications, and support a knowledge-sharing environment.

Bonus Points

• Experience working in startups or small teams.

• Familiarity with mobile apps, especially in petcare, lifestyle or wellness categories.

• Interest in astrology, pets or both!
