Julius is building an AI Data Analyst. Since launching as a hacky prototype in July 2023, Julius has quickly grown to:

  • onboard 1M+ users

  • generated 3.5M+ data visualization

  • processes over 500K+ files and datasets every month

Our revenue growth is following a similar trend.

Background

AI models are starting to write code that exceeds the quality of human written code. Julius is building these AI coding agents and we’ve started with an intense focus on data analysis. Why data analysis? Because turning massive amounts of information into valuable insights and visualizations is going to be one of the most important uses of AI programmers that will impact every facet of economically useful knowledge work - from scientific research to finance.

Design at Julius

As the first design hire, you will shape the interface that introduces millions of knowledge workers to AI and turn advancing AI capabilities products that people use everyday.

You will get to work on the entire product experience from users signing up to becoming a power user.

We’re at an inflection point where AI reasoning and code generation capabilities make applications like analyzing data and visualizing information possible. The interface for how humans will interact with these capabilities is nascent and you will get to define it. You will own design at a company that is tackling these challenges head on, has proven traction and a strong team.

What you will work on

Despite our focus, Julius is somewhat general purpose. Our main users are knowledge workers and they come in varying levels of technical know how — from financial analysts to scientists and researchers. Building a product that serves users of varying levels of “know what they’re doing” is challenging but also very fulfilling.

  • Design interfaces that introduce millions of knowledge workers to AI

  • Own the entire product experience from a user signing up to becoming a power user

  • Craft every detail of new product features, from idea to design to pixel-perfect execution to marketing

  • Define the product's visual identity and interaction patterns

  • Prototype and test new concepts in production

  • Manage and shape the Julius brand identity

  • We’re a startup so there’s a lot of schlep work. From designing marketing pages to optimizing conversion flows

Example challenges you will tackle early on in the role:

  • New user experience without an onboarding flow. Users learn software by trying it. How do we make Julius really easy to try and get more users to experience the magic of Julius

  • Content Presentation inside Julius. Threads in Julius start with a file(s) + instruction and they end with some kind of a work product produced by the AI through some combination code execution, file manipulation and use of web search.

What we’re looking for

  • 4+ years of product design experience, designing end-user facing products

  • Experience designing prosumer or consumer products

  • Experience shipping 0→1 products or features, and demonstrated ability to do rapid prototyping

  • Strong visual and interaction design skills

  • Have demonstrated deep interest and/or have prior exposure to design patterns for working with generative AI models

  • Ability to move fast while balancing quality

We are well capitalized and have raised from investors like AI Grant and the founders of Vercel, Notion, Perplexity, Replit, Palantir, Dropbox and researchers at AI labs like OpenAI and Google DeepMind.

Compensation

Base Salary: $160k - $200k/yr + early stage equity

Company benefits: health, dental and vision insurance, daily office meals, good coffee and gym reimbursements
