About
Hey! I’m Kanishq (Neesh) Kancharla.
I’m a frontend engineer, and I'm dedicated to building unique interfaces and digital experiences that make websites exceptional.
I’m also a sophomore at Northeastern University, studying computer science with a human-centered computing concentration.
Projects
Built the Light Nudge company website in close collaboration with the founder and designer, Raffi Chilingaryan
Led a rewrite of the app using Next.JS, TailwindCSS, and Framer Motion to support Web and Android users, reduce tech debt, and improve performance across platforms
Implemented Firebase authentication and an interactive map using Mapbox GLJS
Optimized UX and accessibility with intuitive transitions and animations
Built a Spotify wrapped-like experience for Corner users to view and share insights into their Corner usage.
An attendance management system built on Next.JS and Supabase with a dashboard for students to sign in and a complete admin dashboard with student and (repeating or individual) appointment management. I built it to be fast and performant without sacrificing a well-thought-out UI and UX.
Side Projects
Built an iOS app for Figma users to view analytics on their Figma activity - includes streaks, widgets for your home screen, high scores, and customizable app icons.
BuilderBook is a free, community-sourced, handbook for young people entering tech. We were voted #1 Education Product Of The Week on Product Hunt 🥳
Meet Me In The Middle is a tool to help you find the best places to meet up with friends, family, or coworkers. I created it because I wanted to meet up with some friends, but didn't know where to go, and couldn't find a tool that could help. I created it using Next.js, TailwindCSS, and the Google Maps APIs.
A Terraria clone I made for a Python class I took at Carnegie Mellon during the summer of 2022. It uses Pygame, and has multiple different blocks, crafting, tools, mobs, and infinite terrain and cave generation.
A small Spotify media controller that uses a Raspberry Pi MQTT server and the Spotify API. When I press the buttons on it, it sends a signal to my Raspberry Pi with the action and my Raspberry Pi makes a request to the Spotify API.
Awards
I won first place at the Blueprint hackathon by HackMIT after learning React Native and developing a notetaking app to allow students to scan notes and have them automatically transcribed and summarized by AI.
I won second place in the BuilderHacks hackathon with an app called Barnacle, a testing automation app that uses the mouse and keyboard to help developers automate tests quickly.
I had the best Sci-Fi project in the Hack3 Hackathon of 2022, with DeSo Bets. It was a decentralized social game app that allows you to challenge your friends and bet on simple games like TicTacToe!
Work Experience
Rewrote the main web app in Next.JS, built a new landing page, supplemental pages for SEO purposes, and general frontend work.
Built key features like rich cell types and charts while redesigning the landing page with Framer Motion for SEO improvements
Reworked app layout and resolved critical bugs, ensuring a seamless user experience
Utilized Typescript, React, and MobX State Tree with GraphQL to improve app performance and state management
I maintained Brookfield Learning Center's updates, updating documents and dates. I also developed an attendance management system to allow for more control over a database of current students and appointments.
Education
Concentration: Human-Centered Computing
I took two Carnegie Mellon courses for a PreCollege program in the summer of 2022.
