About
Hey 👋! I'm Kanishq. I'm a senior in high school, and I love coding. I work on projects to make your life easier, and love solving problems that other people have. Check out my website to see some of the cool things I've worked on, and feel free to send me a message :)
Projects
An attendance management system built on Next.JS and Supabase with a dashboard for students to sign in and a complete admin dashboard with student and (repeating or individual) appointment management. I built it to be fast and performant without sacrificing a well-thought-out UI and UX.
Side Projects
BuilderBook is a free, community-sourced, handbook for young people entering tech. We were voted #1 Education Product Of The Week on Product Hunt 🥳
Framework is a project I created to help me organize my case during debates. It contains space to keep track of my notes and take notes of my opponents’ cases during actual debates. It won first place in the Metrohacks 2022 Hackathon. I built it with Next.js, Chakra UI, and Supabase.
Meet Me In The Middle is a tool to help you find the best places to meet up with friends, family, or coworkers. I created it because I wanted to meet up with some friends, but didn't know where to go, and couldn't find a tool that could help. I created it using Next.js, TailwindCSS, and the Google Maps APIs.
I recently redesigned and updated my personal website using Next.JS and Tailwind. I used a library called Framer Motion to add really nice animations and pull all my data from Notion as a CMS, so I don't need to update the website every time I create a new project.
A Terraria clone I made for a Python class I took at Carnegie Mellon during the summer of 2022. It uses Pygame, and has multiple different blocks, crafting, tools, mobs, and infinite terrain and cave generation.
I created this for the Hack3 Hackathon in which I won two prizes, the Best Use of DeSo as well as the winner for the Sci-Fi track with one partner over around 350 participants. It's a game app that lets you challenge your friends to games and wager on the results with cryptocurrency using the DeSo blockchain. I created it with Next.js and Chakra UI.
A small Spotify media controller that uses a Raspberry Pi MQTT server and the Spotify API. When I press the buttons on it, it sends a signal to my Raspberry Pi with the action and my Raspberry Pi makes a request to the Spotify API.
An app that scans your Google Classroom assignments and puts them into a Notion Calendar. It also uses the Twilio API to send me a text message every day as soon as school ends. It uses my Raspberry Pi as a server.
A redesigned UI website for apnotes.net. I used a Python web scraper to get all of the notes off of that website and then used React and Chakra UI to display it on my website.
A simple and fast end-to-end testing app for web applications. I created this for the BuilderHacks V1 hackathon and won second place. It uses Electron and Mantine UI, and Nut.js in the backend to run the tests.
A minimalistic website that lets you share out-of-context quotes you experience in your day. I created this using Svelte and Supabase and created the UI on my own.
Monad is a large website that I created as an alternative to GitHub Gist or CodeGrepper, and it uses snippet tags to make it easier to find code snippets. I created it using Next.js and Supabase.
An advanced Discord Bot that makes it quick and simple to make images, whether they' memes, inspirational images, or creating your own image with custom everything.
Bubble is a minimalistic notes app that includes advanced text-formatting features and auto-saving so you save your content even if you close the tab.
This is a three-part project that I worked on to play Conway's Game of Life. It has a Discord Bot built in Java, a game created with the Swing library, and a game you can play in the console.
This is a multipurpose Discord Bot that I created for one of my servers and has almost everything you need to run a server, like moderation commands, entertainment commands, reaction roles, and other utilities.
Awards
I won first place at the Blueprint hackathon by HackMIT after learning React Native and developing a notetaking app to allow students to scan notes and have them automatically transcribed and summarized by AI.
I won second place in the BuilderHacks hackathon with an app called Barnacle, a testing automation app that uses the mouse and keyboard to help developers automate tests quickly.
I had the best Sci-Fi project in the Hack3 Hackathon of 2022, with DeSo Bets. It was a decentralized social game app that allows you to challenge your friends and bet on simple games like TicTacToe!
I completed both the Math and English programs at Kumon after 6 years of work, every week.
Work Experience
I maintained Brookfield Learning Center's updates, updating documents and dates. I also developed an attendance management system to allow for more control over a database of current students and appointments.
Volunteering
I taught middle schoolers the basics of Arduino, coding, and circuits. I showed them how to create basic circuits such as pressing a button to turn on an LED, and how to code that.
I held a 12-week and 6-week python course for middle schoolers, an hour a week, and took them through the fundamentals of the course.
I helped grade middle school math at my local Kumon.
I taught general science to kids between 3rd and 5th grade. I went through astronomy, biology, chemistry, and more.
Education
I took two Carnegie Mellon courses for a PreCollege program in the summer of 2022.
