About

Digital product designer with 16+ years of experience helping organisations from startups to global brands bring their ideas to life and connect humans through technology. Specialising in user research, concept development, product strategy, and UI/UX design.

I'm currently figuring out the future of file-sending at WeTransfer in Amsterdam.

Work Experience

2020 — Now
Amsterdam NL

Over 60 million people send and receive files each month with WeTransfer.

Product design at WeTransfer encompasses continuous discovery through research, prototyping, concept validation, UI design, usability testing, and release.

I foster a fully collaborative environment for co-creation, working closely with product managers, engineers, and varied stakeholders to deliver desirable, feasible, and viable design interventions at scale. Key contributions include:

  • User research projects that shape product strategy (generative studies I initiated and led have informed major streams of new feature work such as File Requests, Transfer History, and the introduction of Workspaces).

  • Product strategy (for example, I was a member of a strategic working group that reported to the CEO and board to shape our company-wide approach to AI in 2024).

  • UX/UI design (I’ve contributed to the design of almost all touchpoints across the WeTransfer web experience, from file requesting to transfer management, and onboarding to workspace settings and offboarding).

  • Figma/HTML prototyping and usability testing.

  • Shaping team rituals and facilitating x-functional workshops (ideation, assumptions mapping, retros, etc).

  • Mentoring junior designers.

  • Design system management (I have conducted full system audits and introduced two new libraries whilst supporting accessibility improvements to our shared library).

  • UX writing (I created our Product Writing Guide to consolidate our in-app tone-of-voice and support designers, PMs, and marketers composing product copy).

  • Leading accessibility initiatives (I am one of WeTransfer’s ‘accessibility champions’ and I built our internal Universal Accessibility knowledge hub).

  • QA, supporting build process, and post-launch evaluation.

As creative director, I led the experience and interaction design of our digital projects and oversaw company-wide creative strategy and direction. As a member of the board, I worked with leadership to shape organisational strategy.

Other duties included:

  • Management of the creative production team (2–4 people).

  • Supporting new business acquisitions (market research, building pitch decks, and presenting to prospective customers).

  • UX/UI design: I’ve designed websites and apps for start-ups to global brands like Umbro, Jaguar Land Rover and AstraZeneca.

  • Running creative workshops and co-design sprints.

  • Project scoping and client presentations.

  • Defining information architecture for large-scale systems (for example, redefining the architecture of The New Humanitarian website took into account over 80,000 reports in 90+ regions and 25+ themes).

  • Facilitating engineering handover and QA.
Running CRO (Conversion Rate Optimisation) and growth programmes (for one holiday park client this work resulted in a YoY goal CR increase of over 200%).

  • Front-end development and Drupal theming (I frequently ran projects from commercial handover through to final delivery).
