Work Experience

2020 — Now
Product Design and Strategy at Self
Portland, OR et al.

In my independent design practice, I collaborate with ambitious startups and established companies, playing lead roles in product, design, and brand marketing. I coach founders on building design-led companies and hiring design talent, focusing on fintech/blockchain, creative tooling, and climate tech.

2018 — 2020
Portland, OR

I co-founded Caravel, developing a B2B conversational intelligence platform that leverages natural language processing and machine learning to surface actionable insights from customer conversations. We were part of the Techstars Seattle ‘20 cohort, and Caravel was acquired by Commsor in June ‘22.

2014 — 2018
Portland, OR

As Design Director, I led design and engineering teams, overseeing resources, project timelines, and client relationships, while creating innovative digital products and storytelling experiences at Wieden+Kennedy's Lodge. My clients included Nike, Samsung NA, Coca-Cola, Intuit, KFC, and Anki Robotics.

2011 — 2014
Co-founder, Design at Flavor
Salt Lake City, UT & Portland, OR

I co-founded Flavor to focus on digital products and brand experiences. We built a small team that worked in-house with startups and established companies to help them bring their concepts to market. Our team was acquired by Wieden+Kennedy Portland to build a design and technology offering for their clients.

2011 — 2013
Salt Lake City, UT

I taught and emerging Interactive Media & Motion Design course for the Department of Art & Art History. I set the curriculum and taught 20 students (juniors/seniors) for two quarters.

2007 — 2011
Salt Lake City, UT

I wanted to get closer to the metal when it came to coming up with campaigns and seeing them through production. I also got a chance to do this with some of the best agencies in the world and learn how important storytelling is in communications.

2005 — 2007
Pittsburgh, PA

After a brief internship, I was hired on as a Flash designer/developer working in the “digital” department of the agency. Immersive website as my focus in those years and my interest shifted to art direction over development.
