Hey! I'm Miguel, a product designer who believes great design happens at the intersection of human behavior and thoughtful technology. When I'm not crafting native iOS experiences or diving deep into user research, you'll probably find me elbow-deep in clay at pottery class or experimenting with a new recipe in my kitchen.
I approach both design and life with curiosity and attention to detail. Whether I'm working on a complex filtering system for a gaming app or throwing a ceramic bowl, I'm always asking "what makes this feel just right?"
My love for storytelling isn't just limited to user journeys - I'm a bit of a film buff and bookworm too. There's something magical about how stories can transport us and shape our experiences, whether they're told through pages, pixels, or pottery.

When users don't understand how to participate, even the best gaming feature can fall flat. We tackled this challenge head-on by redesigning the tournament experience from the ground up, transforming complex competition mechanics into an intuitive journey.
Where Design Thinking Meets User Delight
-
🎰 Clear Path to Play: Reshaped tournament information architecture to help players understand exactly how to participate, highlighting that tournaments are free and explaining mechanics like Lucky Spin in plain language
-
🤌 Context When It Matters: The tournament bar appears right where players need it - in eligible games - eliminating confusion about which games are part of active tournaments while providing relevant status updates
-
🧙♂️ Delightful Micro-Moments: Added thoughtful touches like haptic feedback for key actions and smooth animations that make each interaction feel more engaging and responsive
-
🤓 Smart Tournament Bar: Created a dynamic bar that adapts to player status - showing opt-in prompts for non-participants, tracking progress for active players, and displaying real-time leaderboard positions and points for ranked players. All tournament details remain just a tap away in the tournament category above
The result is a tournament system that doesn't just tell players how to participate - it shows them. By integrating tournament information directly into gameplay through the dynamic bar, we created a more intuitive and engaging experience that keeps players informed and motivated throughout their tournament journey. Custom animations and micro-interactions add that extra layer of polish, while the contextual prompting system ensures players always know their status and next steps.
Before this project, players had to scroll through endless lists of games hoping to find something they'd love. Working alongside engineers and product managers, we transformed this experience by creating an intelligent filtering system that makes finding the perfect game feel effortless.
Where Design Thinking Meets User Delight
-
🔍 No More Empty Searches: Created filters that adapt in real-time as players make choices. If there's no medieval-themed slots with 25 paylines, that option simply won't show up - keeping players engaged instead of frustrated
-
🪄 It Just Feels Right: Added subtle haptic feedback that makes the app feel more responsive - a gentle buzz when opening filters or applying them gives players that satisfying "yeah, something happened" feeling
-
🧠 Smart Search When You Need It: For categories with tons of options (looking at you, game providers!), a search bar automatically appears to help players quickly find what they're after
-
🤯 Filters That Think Ahead: The system is smart enough to show only filters that make sense together. If a player picks "Adventure Theme", they'll only see providers and features that actually have adventure games
The result? A discovery system that feels natural and helps players spend less time searching and more time playing. And the numbers back it up - game launches from the search tab increased by 10% after launch, and native app users engage with filters 5 times more frequently than web users. Plus, it's built to grow - ready for new features and adaptable across different brands and markets.
When a feature feels out of place, users notice. We took the challenge of reimagining personal details management, transforming it from a basic web wrapper into a thoughtfully crafted native iOS experience.
Where Design Thinking Meets User Delight
-
📱 Truly Native Feel: Replaced the web wrapper with native iOS components, making every interaction feel natural and fluid - from form fields to date pickers
-
Seamless Platform Integration: Leveraged iOS design patterns and behaviors that users already know and trust, reducing cognitive load and increasing confidence
-
🤤 Attention to Detail: Added subtle animations and transitions that make updating personal information feel less like a chore and more like a natural part of the app experience
-
🤖 Smart Interactions: Implemented platform-specific features like auto-fill and keyboard behaviors, making data entry faster and more accurate
The result is more than just a visual upgrade - it's a complete rethinking of how users interact with their personal information. By embracing native iOS design principles, we created an experience that feels right at home on users' devices, making profile management feel effortless and intuitive.
What happens when you combine physical wellness events with a digital platform? At United Heroes, we tackled this challenge by creating a seamless events integration that brought real-world wellness activities right into users' pockets.
Where Design Thinking Meets User Delight
-
Smart Integration Over Reinvention: Instead of building an events platform from scratch, we partnered with TrainMe to leverage their existing infrastructure while focusing on creating a seamless user experience
-
Research-Backed Navigation: Used card sorting exercises with users to understand their mental models, ensuring the event categories and structure matched their expectations
-
User-First Event Discovery: Designed intuitive ways to browse, search, and get reminders for upcoming events - making wellness activities as accessible as possible
-
Seamless Platform Integration: Created a natural extension of the United Heroes experience rather than feeling like a bolt-on feature
Working alongside frontend developers and TrainMe's team, we transformed complex event management into simple, engaging interactions. Through iterative design and testing with real users, we crafted an experience that makes discovering and joining wellness events feel effortless.
Taking on CHAOS's website redesign meant wearing multiple hats - researcher, designer, and developer. The challenge? Transform a vibrant brand identity into an engaging digital experience while learning Framer from scratch.
Where Design Meets Development
-
Research-First Approach: Dove deep into CHAOS's brand identity, target audience, and business goals to ensure every design decision served a purpose
-
Visual Language that Speaks: Developed a cohesive design system that captures CHAOS's unique personality while maintaining usability and clarity
-
Learning in Public: Embraced the challenge of mastering Framer on the fly, turning potential limitations into opportunities for creative solutions
-
Iterative Refinement: Set up a feedback loop with the client for continuous improvement, ensuring the website evolves with their needs
Working solo on this project meant owning every decision and iteration - from initial wireframes to final implementation. The result is a website that doesn't just showcase CHAOS's work, but brings their brand to life in the digital space.
In a world where competition doesn't motivate everyone, we explored a different angle at United Heroes - environmental impact. The challenge? Transform complex CO2 savings data into an engaging feature that could boost user retention while satisfying our clients' sustainability needs.
Where Design Thinking Meets User Delight
-
Start Small, Learn Fast: Instead of building a complex feature upfront, we launched with a focused MVP showing CO2 savings from active transport, coupled with a feedback mechanism to understand what users really wanted to know
-
Making Numbers Meaningful: Transformed abstract CO2 calculations into relatable comparisons, helping users understand their environmental impact in tangible ways
-
Progressive Disclosure: Designed a dashboard component that shows essential information at a glance, with deeper insights just a tap away - perfect for both casual and environmentally conscious users
-
Data with Context: Added clear explanations about data sources ("Thanks to your walking and biking trips") and monthly calculations to build user trust and understanding
The result? A feature that not only meets client demands for sustainability tracking but also provides users with a new, meaningful motivation to stay active. By focusing on environmental impact rather than competition, we created an alternative engagement path for users who aren't driven by leaderboards and points.
