About

👋 Hello, I'm Matt

As a freelance Product Designer, I'm collaborating with startups to design and build scalable products, with a meticulous touch.

Over the last 5 years, I've worked as a Product Designer in companies of different sizes and diverse sectors.

My expertise ranges from the initial Discovery phase to the final Delivery, including the establishment of Design Systems and the implementation of good Design practices.

Building an outstanding product involves striking the ideal balance between Form & Function, Feeling & Purpose, and I look forward to collaborating with you to find that sweet spot.

My goal is to make a positive impact by crafting softwares that contribute to creating a better world. At my own scale.

As a solo Product Designer for mobile applications at Devialet, I collaborated with different people on the following:

🔹 Migrated from Sketch to Figma for all design files to improve design speed and maintainability, leveraging Figma features such as component variants, auto-layout, real-time collaboration, etc.

🔹 Created two libraries (one for UI components, and another for various elements such as Devialet's physical product images) to enhance consistency and facilitate modifications across different design files (one file per physical product utilizing these two libraries).

🔹 Implemented best practices to improve efficiency from a design perspective, as well as collaboration between Designers, Developers, and Product Owners. For example, I encouraged the use of cloud services integrated with certain software (Figma, Overflow, Protopie) to easily share design progress among stakeholders, keep exports up to date, etc.

🔹 Improved the Devialet and Devialet Gemini applications to optimize the experience of existing products (Phantom I and II).

🔹 Made interface modifications and added interactions to integrate new products (Dione, Mania, Gemini II).

Due to progress in the artifical intelligence field, chatbots have become more popular with a community of makers that expands everyday.

Popular platforms like Messenger find new ways to let users discover new chatbots (Messenger recently add a « discover » tab in their application to serve this purpose). The major downside is the fragmentation that goes with it, each platform offers a different way to find chatbots available on their platform which is not ideal for users. Most of them, if not all, use various instant messaging applications in their everyday life so the process of finding chatbots may be painful and time consuming.

That is the problem Butik tries to solve: simplify the way users search for chatbots by providing a unique store for all of them.

Based on my research, I noticed that a large majority of people use note applications to write down references (movie titles, website urls, etc…) with notes that are rarely longer than a tweet.

Note applications usually require users to create folders with separate notes inside it which is not ideal for this type of usage.

Krell tries to tackle this problem by providing a note application that is quick and easy to use and most importantly, tailored for short notes and references.
