At Languages in Science, I spoke about bridging languages and tech, touching on using product design thinking in language learning, my process of designing a language app, applying atomic design principles to grammar and more.
The majority of the world’s internet users are mobile-based. Creating apps and mobile sites that cater to various cultures, languages, levels of digital literacy and writing systems is key. The focus of this talk is how through language and visuals, designers and developers can create apps to better support and empower a global, multilingual audience.
Language learning is much more than just sitting in a class and learning vocabulary – it’s learning a new culture and a different way of thinking. How then can we best approach learning a language if we’re not in the country? Or if we’ve lived in so many, what do we do when we’re confused or lost?
