About
I am a strategic designer and UX researcher with experience in product management and small business management. I have a broad scope from media to technology, entertainment to financial services. I navigate well in complex environments.
Projects
The aim of the project was to create a concept, information architecture and key page templates for a common website for all Generali-owned entities in the Czech and Slovak domains.
The project involved seven entities and thirty key stakeholders. As part of the project, we mapped existing websites in terms of content, functionality and UI components. We conducted user research and a series of stakeholder interviews. We designed and tested with users a unified structure of the new Czech and Slovak website, which includes all relevant entities and allows flexible addition or removal of others.
In the project I took the role of Design Lead and personally mapped the needs of the client, conducted user research, analyzed the existing website and designed the architecture of the new website.
The German and Austrian betting company Merkur/Cashpoint is launching a new betting brand MerkurXTip. We prepared a mobile app design on a new backend platform from scratch for it in a very short timeframe. My role was to transfer insight into the betting business and user needs so that the design and development team could make quick conceptual decisions.
At the turn of 2021 and 2022, an amendment to the Electronic Communications Act came into force, which implemented the GDPR. Within the company, I led the project from the position of business owner in the infrastructure product department. My job was to ensure that the company's new approach to capturing, storing, managing and using user data was compliant not only with GDPR but also with the regulatory framework in which the betting company operates (e.g. AML). I coordinated a team of analysts, designers, researchers and developers and not only took the project to delivery, but then continued to operate and develop it.
Side Projects
Since 2016, I have been teaching introductory web and user interface design, sprint design, and human-centered design courses at the School of Computer Science and Statistics.
The Řekni si o web (Ask for the Web) project follows the publication of the book 75 tipů, jak si říct o web (75 Tips on How to Get a Website Designed). Together with Jakub Goldmann, we publish a newsletter and conduct innovation and design process training.
Speaking
At a conference on search engine optimization, Jakub Goldmann and I gave a presentation on trends in UX design that affect SEO. The presentation had a positive reception from the professional audience, who appreciated with detachment that we brought the topic of "UX Optimization" in response to the adoption of artificial intelligence in serving user queries, which was also emphasized by search architects at Google at the same time.
How have AI tools changed the way we design, conduct and evaluate in-depth interviews in user research? Using big language models and tools like Chat GPT, we can prepare scenarios. Tools like Whisper allow us to significantly reduce the time required for transcripts. And again, it's big language models and perhaps services like Claude.ai that will help us evaluate interviews.
At a conference for frontend developers, I presented a design approach based on modeling instead of high-fidelity designs. In an era of sophisticated design systems and the use of AI in web and application design, modeling is growing in importance as the predominant approach to designing information systems and user interfaces.
Writing
Together with Jakub Goldmann and Josef Platil, we summarized our experience in creating websites and wrote the first Czech book intended for web project contractors. The book describes good practice for awarding orders, selecting a supplier and setting up cooperation with him. As a bonus, he describes the design process.
Work Experience
I joined the 2FRESH agency as a UX Lead and worked for clients from the betting business, finance and telecommunications. My key competences were primarily in the analytical and conceptual phase of projects.
As a product manager for infrastructure in a betting company, I was responsible for user identity, user registration and login. In addition, I was in charge of development projects and strategic research.
I joined the UX department, which had eight people during the pandemic lockdowns, leaving a team of thirty people. I created a UX research team, selected tools, set up internal processes and collaboration with product teams. I led a small team of UX researchers and, in the beginning, also copywriters.
I founded and led a usability lab focused on user testing and research.
I was responsible for the website and application redesign project and the implementation of a strict paywall.
As a product designer, I formed a bridge between technological development, company founders and UI designers
