About

I lead the product design team at Juniper Square, a financial tech and services company for the private markets.

I have over 10 years of experience designing products that help people navigate complexity.

These days, my passions are in building and actively contributing to diverse, high-performance teams that dream big, collaborate openly and kindly, and execute their visions with polish and care.

Work Experience

2019 — Now
San Francisco, CA

I joined Juniper Square as its first designer and have since been building and leading its five-person product design team.

Features I personally designed have enabled our alternative asset manager customers to expand their asset reporting capabilities, conduct diligence on their investors with KYC/AML tools, automate their investor distribution payments via integrated bank partnerships, and communicate with their investors via our industry-leading investor portal. Currently, I'm our mobile app product lead responsible for ensuring we ship a high-quality app with a leanly resourced team.

I also play a key role in evolving Juniper Square’s brand language, supporting senior leaders with creative direction for our capital markets and AI strategies, and leading efforts within our engineering org to up-level our frontend development output.

Core management responsibilities include hiring, performance management, bolstering our design system, and defining principles and practices that empower my team to produce high-quality work.

2014 — 2019
Mountain View, CA

At Intuit I led mobile design efforts on a scrappy team building a new version of QuickBooks for the self-employed, now called QuickBooks Solopreneur.

Our apps’ mileage tracking, mobile invoicing, and mobile expense tracking features helped us acquire over 150k mobile-only subscribers in six countries in less than two years.

I also designed patented features to automate bank transaction categorization and receipt management for small business owners using QuickBooks Online.

2013 — 2013
San Jose, CA

I conducted qualitative research with Samsung's Lifestyle Research Lab and Product Innovation Team. My efforts focused on how trends in how we live and work could influence the development of technologies in our home.

Education

2009 — 2013
Stanford, CA

At Stanford I studied interdisciplinary design, fusing coursework from the art and art history, product design engineering, and languages and literatures departments with practical design thinking principles at the d.school.

My interests centered on how technological advancement defined the modern world in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, reflected in both the immense progress and creativity and also in the horrors wrought by war and alienation in that period.

I found purpose in exercising my craft as a digital designer to help author a world that innovates towards prosperity and abundance for all.

2016
Scott Cook Innovation Award from Intuit

The Scott Cook Innovation Awards recognize the individuals at Intuit who create innovations that are new to the world and have significant quantifiable benefit for employees, customers, partners, and/or shareholders. Eight other colleagues and I won this award for designing and shipping QuickBooks Self-Employed's automatic mileage tracking feature on its iOS and Android apps.
