Work Experience

2015 — Now
San Francisco, CA

As a design lead on Material Design, I managed multiple teams focused on inventing radical new tools and workflows that enable designers and engineers to build products collaboratively. Our work spans computer-aided design, cross-device layout adaptation, animation automation, machine-readable design specification, and code generation.

I also spent two years as the creative tooling lead for Fuchsia (a brand new operating system and computing platform at Google), and contribute to multiple company-wide UX efforts including developing onboarding curriculum, interviewing, and serving on hiring/promotion committees.

2012 — 2017
Palo Alto, CA

I helped create one of the industry’s first mobile prototyping tools capable of rich gestural interaction and animation. As the company’s first design hire, my responsibilities included setting overall product and business direction; hiring and building our design team; and engineering the complete product UI in React.

Pixate was acquired by Google in 2015.

2004 — 2013
Designer at Freelance
Durham, NC

I managed a wide variety of cross-media projects involving branding, illustration and UI design for startups and academic institutions such as Wake Forest University, VidIQ, Statuspage and Viddler.

2007 — 2013
Cary, NC

I designed and developed internal communication and collaboration products for the R&D organization. I was also part of a team that handled business operations for R&D, including
communication and internal program governance.
