I always valued my work as a Filmmaker and Creative Director at my production company. However, the daily routine was not aligned with my future goals. So, I decided to do an exchange program and learn my third language: French. I spent two months in Montreal, where, coincidentally, the father of my host family was a Software Engineer with experience at major companies, and the mother worked in data at the largest HR company in Canada. I was fascinated by the dynamics of their professions.
Since childhood, I have always been interested in the technology field, and this experience motivated me to make a significant change in my life by transitioning careers. I decided to dedicate myself 100% to the new profession, aiming to be the best in everything I do. I devoted myself intensely to college and parallel courses, which yielded good results: just two months after the transition, I secured my first internship in the field, achieved as a recognition of my excellent academic performance.
In 2018, I moved to Rio de Janeiro and founded my production company: The Bean. During this time, I directed several campaigns for global brands such as DJI, BMW, Mercedes, ILSC English School (Toronto, Canada), Wilderness Resorts (Wisconsin, USA), Havaianas, Voltz, among others.
In late 2019, I received an offer from Armonica Film (based in Rome) to become a creative director at the production company. In January 2020, I moved to Rome, Italy, to take on this role. Over four months, I worked on several tourism campaigns until April 2020, when the country entered lockdown due to the pandemic.
Already known as a producer and creative director, by the end of 2020, I received an offer to direct and execute a web series in five Eastern European countries: Ukraine, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Albania. In this project, I was responsible for all aspects of web series production, including creative direction, scriptwriting, filming, executive production, and sound design. Additionally, leveraging my extensive experience with foreign languages and global cultures, I handled all location scouting, organized travel logistics, and served as the official translator for the team.
While living and working in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, I received a proposition from my former HR recruiter who had been following my social media profiles and was impressed with my communication, marketing, and video production skills. In early 2018, she reached out to me about two roles within the company: Director of Social Media (handling video production and digital marketing) in the morning, and Supervisor of lifeguards in the afternoon.
As the Creative Director of Social Media, I spearheaded numerous campaigns aimed at enhancing their digital presence, achieving significant results. We grew their Instagram and YouTube followers by over 300%. Additionally, website visits increased by more than 150% during this period.
In my role as Supervisor of lifeguards, I oversaw a team that included many international students. My responsibilities included managing their schedules, providing direction and guidance to ensure they performed their lifeguard duties with attentiveness and precision. Furthermore, I managed the operational aspects of our work space.
Right after my first international experience in the United States, I spent one year in Canada to improve my English skills. I studied at ILSC school for 9 months, where I attended classes full-time from Monday to Friday, progressing from intermediate to advanced English levels and engaging in international networking opportunities.
That was my first professional experience, and as a bonus, it was international! During my first year of college (back when I was studying Civil Engineering in Salvador), I applied for the Work&Travel USA exchange program. The goal of the program was to gain international work experience while practicing English language skills. To be accepted into the program, applicants needed intermediate English proficiency because the job interview was conducted entirely in English.
Among various job options, I chose to work as a lifeguard at a water park resort in the United States. Upon arrival in the city, I had to prepare and complete the American Red Cross Training Services lifeguard course (which was entirely conducted in English, of course). After three weeks of intensive training, I took the test and became a certified lifeguard by the American Red Cross, allowing me to work at the resort.
Education
I am currently pursuing a degree in Software Engineering at FIAP (Faculdade de Informática e Administração Paulista), one of the leading institutions in technology education in Brazil. The program offers a solid foundation in system development, software architecture, and agile methodologies, preparing students for the challenges of the job market. In addition to theoretical coursework, FIAP emphasizes practical experience through projects, labs, and partnerships with companies, enabling students to develop essential skills and gain real-world experience in the field.
Academic Highlights:
• Ranked as the top 1 student in my course, earning a merit scholarship for my academic performance. My overall GPA in the bachelor's degree is 9.19/10.
• Winner of the NEXT Hackathon hosted by FIAP in partnership with Schneider Electric in 2023.
