Overview
Video Studio is a video creation tool available on iOS. Squarespace is known for tasteful website templates that make going from 0 to 1 fast and beautiful. After conversations with customers, their needs, and the market — we focused on extending the tasteful templates that we offer to video. The tool supports our customers “graduating” to more sophisticated videos positioned along a spectrum of effort.

The Ambiguous Beginning
Squarespace acquired a small video company in order to accelerate its offering when it comes to video. But the question was wide open regarding what exactly to do with the company. That's when I was invited by the VP of Design to take point on the acquisition and integrating it into a valuable part of the Squarespace ecosystem.
I started the journey by first auditing the capabilities of the acquired company while also drafting a user research brief to guide the areas I would probe when interviewing Squarespace customers.
