Side Projects

Nowhere Diary is a photography community founded in 2018 by Kim Høltermand.

Since 2018, Kim has curated Nowhere Diary and promoted the work of photographers, telling their stories and featuring their books on photography.

Kim wanted to create a unique platform for photography and for photographers, a place to share the many stories and memories found in photographs, a place to inspire others and a place to help the growth and development of photographers.

By promoting and sharing the work of photographers through Nowhere Diary, hopefully Kim is helping more people learn and discover photography in all its aspects — from everyday documenting to exhibitions and book publishing.

Professional advice and in-depth guidance on photography projects.

Through email and interactive online sessions, Kim helps photographers in the process of their project. He gives advice on all aspects of the creative process: from concept development, editing and sequencing, discovering and making a passionate project, to practical advice on photographing.

Nowhere Diary Newsletter is a Substack newsletter, featuring all the favorite bits and pieces Kim collects on his journey around the internet, that fits the world of Nowhere Diary.

Stories, articles, interviews, photo book recommendations and more.

Ark Temporaire is a guide to architecture and interior founded in 2019 by Kim Høltermand.

With focus on architects, studios, interior designers, photographers and other creatives Kim writes about sustainability, restoration, materials, techniques and much more.

Ark Temporaire also features interviews, guides, lists, features, give aways and other inspiration. Kim also occasionally features art, design, film and other architecture and interior related topics.

Outliers, Vol. I: Iceland is a collaborative multimedia project about a small group of filmmakers, photographers and a musician who set out on a journey to explore the remote countryside of Iceland in October of 2011, meeting there for the first time. The film features photographers Tim Navis (LA) and Kim Høltermand (Denmark), as well the electronic composer Deru - who composed and curated an original score based on field recordings from the trip.

Produced by Scenic, the mission was to improvise and document our experiences with the landscape, residents, and traditions we encountered. We aimed to synthesize the material we came back with into a group-produced collection of moving pictures, photography, and music. The production and materials for the project were almost entirely funded through a Kickstarter campaign. The countless post-production hours were volunteered and the tracks on the music compilation have been contributed by many talented international producers and composers who have been gracious enough to collaborate on this not-for-profit project.
