At Be My Eyes, I actively participate in empowering visually impaired individuals to lead more independent lives. As a volunteer, I engage in live video streams initiated by visually impaired individuals through their cellphone cameras. Through phone calls or chats, I am randomly assigned to someone who shares the same language and time zone. This unique connection allows me to provide real-time assistance by describing objects, guiding camera movements, reading instructions, or helping with tasks like cleaning up spills. By leveraging speech synthesis technology, we ensure that important content can be audibly conveyed. This process plays a crucial role in promoting independence and enhancing the overall quality of life for blind and visually impaired individuals.
