About
I'm an aspiring researcher currently investigating ways of better defending society from the threat of Deepfakes. My overarching technical research interests include biologically inspired machine learning, evolutionary algorithms, and reinforcement learning. Check out some fun projects I've done in these areas on my GitHub!
Alongside my purely technical interests I am passionate about practical ethics, philosophy, non-anthropocentric concepts of intelligence, and consciousness. Despite being interested in each of these things in and of themselves, I find that they often coalesce into a curiosity about the implications of artificial general intelligence and conscious systems of human design. In the future I would like to dedicate much of my research to investigating the means through which consciousness arises in the world and the roots of non-anthropocentric intelligence.
In my free time I enjoy spending time out in nature doing activities such as mountain biking and hiking, and spending time with friends.
Side Projects
Petting Zoo is environment for machine learning models to frolic and learn in, and a framework to help them do it in parallel. Currently there are tools to train models with a genetic algorithm, and reinforcement learning tools are coming soon!
Awards
Check out my poster that I presented at the 2019 LANL Student Symposium on my LinkedIn. I won best poster in the Computing category and I later presented it at the 2019 Chesapeake Large-Scale Analytics Conference.
Work Experience
Wrote software to sanitize, parse, and visualize live data from a research vessel sailing on the Great Salt Lake. Worked with team to understand physical phenomena.
