THE GAME:
Dakar Desert Rally is the biggest off-road rally racing adventure ever developed. Experience the speed and excitement of the largest rally race on the planet, featuring a wide variety of licensed vehicles from motorcycles, cars, trucks, quads and SSVs.
MY ROLE:
UX Design

Responsible for creating user-flows for crucial interactions in the game, such as the career mode.

Developed wireframes and low-fi mockups for crucial features and user-flows throughout the game.

Collaboration with key stakeholders, game designers and director to improve the user experience across the game and provide input over best-practices on game's interactions and overall usability.
UI Design

Developed a style guide and layout grid to use as base for all menus in the game.

Designed, implemented in-engine and animated every menu and screen.

Responsible for integrating every new element in the UI across development, making sure the style, navigation and layout remained consistent across every menu.

Updated the design and structure of the HUD from the previous entry in the franchise (Dakar 18), optimizing it and making sure it fit the visual style of the game.

Developed the entire game layout to work responsively in any aspect ratio and screen resolutions in-engine.

Designed all button and key prompts icons for every platform (Xbox, Playstation 4, Playstation 5 and PC).

Designed most new iconography and updated existing icon designs from the previous entry in the franchise (Dakar 18), to properly fit the new style.

Recreated the gadget screens from all vehicle cockpits (100+) according to the real world versions and implemented them in-game.
Animation and VFX

Animated all UI elements in the game, both through keyframe animation as well as scripting procedural animation.

Developed materials/shaders in-engine for all UI visual effects, including: Map clouds and water, button states, race results and rewards, glow and sweep effects.
Marketing
- Provided assistance on developing key art for game covers, special editions and DLCs.
