Projects

2023
Fruitstraat (Impact & Co-creation project) at Impact Designers Collectief

The project starts from the concept of “Communal Fruit Trees” and the ideas of the “commons”:

it wants to give private lands and (semi) public lands a redistributive/solidarity function.

Citizens and companies of city Ghent are responsible for the planting and maintenance of the fruit trees and shrubs, but they do offer the fruits for the benefit of all Ghent residents. Participants are therefore not only committed to caring for the trees and shrubs, but also to sharing the proceeds, for example through harvest festivals or picking moments.

Domestic Data Streamers was founded with a simple idea: That the world couldn’t be understood without numbers, but it wouldn’t be understood with numbers alone. Domestic believes that any meaningful interchange of information between people needs to carry emotions, experiences to create knowledge or change.

Domestic combines the ancient power of storytelling with data to create participatory projects that build community and educate, to craft campaigns that communicate, products that truly connect and exhibitions that make people feel and think with more empathy.
-> domesticstreamers.com/about/

During my internship at Domestic I had the opportunity to work on a social-media campaign for Unicef EAP among other things. Trying to communicate the data > results they gathered in their annual rapport towards the younger audience on social-media. Translating data into playfull and comprehensible visualizations.

What happens when you combine your soft evening walk or maybe a long city hike with the nicest spots generated by citizens in Brussels? You get the Walk By Brussels web-application. Imagined by and made for Brussels habitants during the #brusselsHacksTheCrisis project, organised by Smart City Brussels and developed by 5 Osoc-students. A new motivation to get outdoors without the need of leaving the city.

2017 — 2017
Graphic Design Intern at TMW Unlimited
London, UK

As an intern at TMW, I attended the set of some advertising campaigns. Through observation I came in contact with new skills such as video editing and filming. In addition, I was commissioned to design a social media post. Next to my observation within the company, TMW is a dynamic and centrally located company in London, which gave me a lot of new interests.

Volunteering

2022 — 2022
Johannesburg, South-Africa

On the 16th of april, 2022 we went for 3 weeks with a 11 students from LUCA School of Arts to the Greenside Design Center in Johannesburg. We joined the students from GDC to work together on SDG* investing projects for the city. (*sustainable development goals)

To guarantee the visibility and funding of the South Intensive Project, we started a crowdfunding with the project participants.

Relevant information about the project was equivalent to a contribution to the funding. We provided three different channels on which the project was shared. On the one hand, the "SDG* Your Year" calendar was designed in which monthly tips on the sustainable development goals were shared in the form of 'to do's'. In addition, our learnings could be followed live on the @lucagoessouth Instagram page. Finally, the 'Stories From Joburg' event was organized in which we shared how we have used our creativity to make an impact, but also what impact this project has had on us and how we will take it into the future.
